Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The National Audubon Society presents a new line of native trees that helps birds and wildlife thrive in your area! The showy Audubon® Native Hydrangea Bush (Hydrangea arborescens) is a type of Smooth or Wild Hydrangea with white, nectar-rich blooms that nourish all types of native bees and other beneficial insects.

Blooming prolifically from June to September the mophead blooms are backdropped by broad egg-shaped, sharply toothed, dark green leaves all growing season! Fantastic cut or dried flowers, Hydrangea have always been a garden standard. Unfortunately, most newer varieties do not have the nectar resources that the Wild Hydrangea has for your pollinators and hummingbirds!

Habitat for Cardinals, Grosbeaks, Wrens, Sparrows, Thrushes, Orioles, Finches, Mockingbirds, Thrashers & Vireos. These are fantastic wildlife shrubs that are as ornamental and at home among a formal garden as they are in the wild understory.

Planting and Application:

Hydrangea bushes are native to moist or rocky wooded slopes and can be found growing along stream banks and in rich woodland soils. Fantastic Wildlife Shrubs for a naturalized hedge or screen that will attract birds to nest and roost among the dense branching.

Moist soil gardens and around your foundation near where the gutters runoff, Native Hydrangeas fit perfectly among Rain Gardens and help slow and filter runoff from driveways and parking lots. The dense root systems are fantastic for erosion control along stream or pond edges and on difficult-to-mow slopes.

  • Rounded White Blooms
  • Caterpillar Host Plant - Hydrangea Sphinx moth
  • Pollinator Garden Plants & Vital Nectar Resource

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Hydrangea Shrubs prefer average, medium moisture and well-drained soils in part shade. They tolerate full sun only if grown with consistent moisture and plenty of mulch to keep the roots cool and moist.
