To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills sells a large variety of plants with several options available. Plants are offered in both potted containers and as dormant bare root without soil. Here is a helpful resource to understand your options as you create a beautiful landscape with help from Nature Hills.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

Glowing scarlet-red blooms, the Red Sentinel Astilbe (Astilbe japonica 'Red Sentinel') is one of the most outstanding red Astilbes! Deep forest-green leaves have mahogany-red stems which nicely complement the scarlet-red flowers.
Red Sentinel is a real eye-catcher and brings in butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds! You’ll love the tall stems in your bouquets too! Lightly fragrant, the finely dissected foliage looks amazing all growing season long and acts as a lacy backdrop for the fluffy blooms!
Cold and heat tolerant throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, Astilbe also goes by the names Meadowsweet and False Spirea. The tall stems grow 20 - 24 inches in height and stand tall over the foliage mounds that spread 12-18 inches wide.
Landscape Application:
Plant Red Sentinel en masse or in showy groups in your dappled shade gardens, or woodland gardens beneath the canopy of large trees! Astilbes are long-lived, easy-to-grow herbaceous perennials that are most comfortable when grown in rich soil and light shade to filtered sun. They will grow in full shade in warmer climates, but will not bloom as abundantly. Though they are carefree perennials, Astilbes have one critical requirement - lots of water! They must have consistently moist soil, drought and dry soil lead to a quick demise, especially in the sun. A 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch makes all the difference with these perennials!
Fertilize Astilbes in late spring before flowering starts. Wait to cut back the old foliage until spring, because it will help protect the plant from winter damage. Every few years, divide the clumps to keep them growing tidy and spread the beauty throughout your landscape.
