Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 3-10
Need an ornamental yet vigorous groundcover? The Burgundy Glow Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans 'Burgundy Glow') is just the decorative low-growing perennial you need! Ajuga is an herbaceous perennial groundcover with showy, short spikes of lovely blue flowers each spring! Not only is the foliage colorful but this Mint family relative has aromatic foliage that deters deer and rabbits!
Your Burgundy Glow Ajuga is superior compared to other ornamental Bugelweed! In fact, it's one of the most popular mat-forming flowering plants available with its striking mounds of leaves dappled in shades of green, pink, and cream! As a bonus, the 6-inch spikes of blue flowers appear in late spring and attract butterflies and hummingbirds to their delicate beauty.
During the wintertime, Burgundy Glow Ajuga keeps the show going as it transitions to a rich bronze with burgundy tones, even remaining semi-evergreen in warm growing zones! Hardy perennials throughout an insanely wide range of climates, Burgundy Glow can grow from USDA zone 3 up to zone 10! Barely reaching 6 inches tall when in bloom, the tri-colored variegated foliage spreads 12-18 inches wide but can root and naturalize further when allowed!
Landscape Application:
Plant several Burgundy Glow Ajuga in places where you could use some filler but have difficulty establishing plantings! This includes that stubborn patch of lawn that won't take. Handing some shade, Bugleweed works as a lawn replacement when you want something other than green carpeting your spaces! They even tolerate light foot traffic!
Place a few beneath the understory of shrubs and trees, rambling around shrubs and perennials to fill bare ground without climbing into their neighbors, or spilling over the tops of retaining walls! Great as edging, colorful front of the garden borders, or simply adding its beauty to your Rock Gardens and dry slopes or anywhere you could use a vigorous, ornamental touch!
Easy and fast mass plantings, Burgundy Glow Ajuga is also great for preventing erosion on slopes and can be used as filler and spillers in containers and mixed planters! Burgundy Glow Ajuga is relatively carefree, deer-resistant, and even a low allergen!
- Gorgeous Tri-Colored Foliage
- Beautiful Blue Short Flower Spikes
- Burgundy Tone In Fall
- Pollinator Friendly Groundcover
- Edging, Borders, Container Filler, Erosion Control & Easy En Masse
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Burgundy Glow Ajuga will do best in a partly shaded area, but will also adapt to the morning sun (in which the foliage colors will be even more vivid). These perennials prefer moist soil with good drainage but will also tolerate moderately dry areas once established. Any well-drained area is best and new plantings appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch - especially in hotter climates, drier soil conditions, and higher sun locations.
When the plants are done blooming, prune off the spent blooms to keep the foliage looking pristine. Remember that Ajuga varieties will spread out in all directions. In early spring, pick off any damaged leaves or lightly rake any damaged parts just as they begin to grow. Divide clumps to keep healthy and vigorous.
- Partly Sunny & Partly Shaded Locations
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture to Low Once Established
- Deadhead After Flowering & Clean Mounds Early Spring
- Low Maintenance Deer-Resistant Plant
- Pest & Insect-Resistant
