The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Pretty blooms and spreading foliage, the Bronze Beauty Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans 'Bronze Beauty') features bronze-hued, evergreen foliage that forms a hardy, glossy mat! Filling out in waxy bronzy-purple over green aromatic leaves, these fast-growing perennials are hardy and adaptable!
The 4-inch tall spikes of intense lavender flowers rise above the leaves in spring and call Pollinators galore! Spreading quickly to fill wide areas, these weed-blocking flowering carpets shine around the sun and partially shade landscape! Members of the Mint family, you can guess just how well Ajuga can spread!
Amazingly cold and heat tolerant, this Bugleweed grows throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 10! Growing just 8 inches tall when in bloom, the mats can spread up to 18 inches, but then root at the nodes touching the soil and spread more - fast! Plus you will enjoy semi-evergreen leaves all winter in warmer climates!
Landscape Application:
Make sure you want it to grow where you plant it because Bronze Beauty will fill in garden spaces fast, without getting into trouble with neighboring plants! Fill in the gaps between shrubs or perennials like a flowering weed-blocking groundcover or living mulch, Bugleweed's big blooms are as showy as the leaves! Plant as edging along Cottage Borders, in mixed perennial gardens, and through Rock Gardens where their love for drier well-drained environments shines!
It's a tough little groundcover that can be walked on or even mowed...and still come back for more. Plant along your driveway, edge pathways in the sun or part shade, and even in between pavers and stepping stones! You can even replace that patch of lawn that won't seem to grow with these shining beauties!
Easy and fast mass plantings, fill that hard-to-mow slope with pretty gems or slow erosion on an eyesore of a slope, transforming it into one of your favorite landscape attractions! Let ramble and spill over regaining walls or fill in the leggy bare stems of larger shrubs and hedges. All your trees will get an upgrade with a skirt of Ajuga around their bases!
While great at spreading wide, Bugleweed also looks great as a filler and spiller in your mixed containers, porch pots, and planters too!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Flowering Ajuga will do best in a shaded area with morning sun in hot climates, but will adapt to the full sun in cooler growing zones. The more sun, the better the flowering and foliage colors will appear! Ajuga prefers moist soil with good drainage but will tolerate moderately dry areas once established. Try to avoid soggy conditions and clay soil that can cause rot.
Pruning is recommended in the early spring. Some choose to mow this groundcover perennial after flowering to remove spent flower spikes and clean up the area. Be mindful of its spreading abilities! Plant and maintain it so you keep your area looking neat and lovely! Divide as needed and transplant to expand your enjoyment of this pretty plant!
- Sunny & Shaded Locations
- Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture to Low Once Established
- Clean Mounds In Late Autumn or Early Spring
- Low Maintenance Deer-Resistant Plant
If you have a shady spot where other plants have failed, Ajuga Bronze Beauty Bugleweed may be for you! Order yours at NatureHills.com today!
