Like a smokey, dimly-lit room in a mystery-romance-thriller book, full of drama, and the air thick with suspense! We feel like Intrigue Floribunda Rose (Rosa 'Intrigue') is all that and so much more! The magnificent color is so rich and dramatic, it will whisk you away into a novella-like world! It isn't purple. Or lavender. Or red. It is all of those and then some! This variety has such a deeply-nuanced and graded color that it draws you into the suspense of what it will look like with each passing day!

The color might reel you in, but it's the citrus scent - with a hint of Old World Rose - that makes you want to linger. One spray of these beautiful Roses will perfume a whole room. The blossoms are incredible, too, with 17 to 25 petals per bloom. The outer petals ruffle in the most delightful way. This is the best of Hybrid Teas and Old World Roses combined into a decidedly modern Floribunda. No wonder it won the 1984 All-American Rose Selections Award!

The compact shrub is thickly branched, very disease resistant and works in a variety of climates throughout USDA growing zones 5 through 9! The built-in modern Floribunda Rose genetics make this 2-5 foot tall, 3-4 foot wide shrub an incredible low-maintenance flowering ornamental plant to add to your garden without all the mystery of old-fashioned Rose care!

Planting and Application:

You know they say it's wise to spend time studying "the heart of the Rose." This variety is the perfect selection for that meditative practice! Add fragrance and sultry tones to a meditation garden or your favorite outdoor reading nook where you can enjoy the best of both worlds! Try it if you need to liven up a stale landscape or put it in a cutting garden if you want to give your floral bouquets a boost! Look deep into the heart of this Rose while breathing in the fantastic old-Rose scent and you'll feel transported to another magical dimension!

Intrigue is a sophisticated complement to other perennials in your beds and borders. The velvety flowers truly stand out. Yellows, whites, reds, and pinks practically glow next to the deep, saturated plum color of this Floribunda Rose. Create the opposite of a Moon Garden with these pouty blooms that radiate dark magic and mystery!

This is a must-have for the cutting garden and the pollinator border! All will be drawn into the dramatic double blooms of these perfectly formed Roses! Create garden vignettes and destination spots within your outdoor rooms worthy of the Intrigue Rose! Highlight the shrub further in a grand urn or accent a garden seating area or bench! You'll want to keep this fragrant Rose close to you indoors and out!

  • Lavish, Deeply Plum-Violet Colored Flowers
  • Easy Care Floribunda Rose
  • Citrus Fragrance With A Splash Of Old World Rose
  • All-American Rose Selections Award Winner!
  • Incredible Color in Garden Beds & Borders, Containers & Specimen Plantings

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Intrigue Rose bushes do best in full sun with at least six hours of direct sunlight a day. Roses need well-drained soil that sheds water quickly after a rainfall. Add Nature Hills Root Booster to your planting hole for life-long support. The symbiotic ingredients never "wear out" when you use it from day one! Water with a consistent schedule for the best flowering. Keep container-grown Roses well watered! Apply a three-inch layer of mulch over the roots to keep them nice and cool. Then, pull it back away from directly touching the canes.

In the fall, please bag and remove all leaf litter. Overwinter in cold zones with a mound of mulch applied in late November. Wait until early spring to prune each of the Rose canes down to 6 - 8 inches. Cut at a 45-degree angle just above a nice, fat bud and remove the winter mulch from the crown.
