If you love Hydrangea, but just don't have the room for a large variety like ‘Phantom’, Bobo is for you. Its diminutive nature makes it the perfect choice to neatly tuck into those small spaces in your yard. You can even keep one in a large container on your porch or patio.
Now, keep in mind that Bobo’s small size does NOT mean small blooms!
Huge, white flowers from mid-summer through fall. Over the season, the pristine blooms cover the shrub so profusely, it can be hard to see the delicious, deep-green foliage. You’ll watch in amazement as they continue to grow and lengthen as they bloom.
Don’t worry, these mammoth panicles are easily held upright on strong stems. Lovely green foliage is a great foil for the flowers, when you can see it, between the lacy, large blooms! The blossoms mature into a delightful pink blush for autumn color.
Bobo flowers in a nicely symmetrical way all the way across the shrub. It will look like a ball of flowers when in full bloom… something you really have to see to believe.
Even a single cluster or two make a chic little cut flower arrangement to decorate your interior tablescapes. Hydrangea blooms are a good value, too, as they last for extended periods of time in bouquets. Add sturdy Bobo to your vase first, then spice it up with other blooms and filler foliage for color and texture as you choose.
Bobo is a hardy little deciduous shrub that is so easy to grow and care for. You’ll adore its smaller overall size and the profuse flower production. Let it knock your socks off each year, as the creamy white flower panicles develop, open and elongate until they cover the whole bush. Their lacy appearance will be well received.
A compact, easy-to-grow Panicle Hydrangeas with magnificent blooms, Bobo is an outstanding choice for your landscape this year. Nature Hills growers take special pride in delivering incredibly healthy specimens right to your doorstep. Nothing could be easier. Order yours today and enjoy!
How to Use Bobo® Hydrangea in the Landscape
Bobo® Hydrangea is a must have for sunny foundation plantings. These spreading little shrubs marry high performance with showy style. You’ll have a nice looking, tidy, dark green plant in spring, incredible creamy white flowers from summer into pink blushed fall color. Keep the blooms on to dry for winter interest until early spring.
Use these in the ground under your front windows or try one on either side of your entryway. They’ll look fantastic in coordinating containers, as well. Style them as you like! Bobo always shines with classy good looks.
If you have any existing shrubs in your landscape that have started to develop a bare, “leggy” base, add Bobo in front of them. They make excellent facer plant for taller shrubs. Bobo is the perfect addition near the front of a mixed shrub border.
Add them as a backdrop along the length of your perennial border. They make a charming addition to Cottage-style gardens. But the strong flower form and dense branch structure work beautifully in sleek modern or contemporary gardens, too.
Try them in the center of a planting bed and outline them in sweet little Baby Gem Boxwood. Or, use Bobo as your low hedge. Imagine a long line of those classic white flowers drawing your eye and adding interest.
Plant them 2 - 3 feet apart to create a solid low hedge. You’ll measure from the center of one to the center of the next. Buy larger container sizes and plant closer together for super-fast results.
Low hedges are a nice way to define garden areas and to create orderly walkways through the garden. Use them alongside your patio where you can appreciate them. Or, run this compact panicle Hydrangea along the sunny edge of a woodland garden to brighten delightful garden paths.
Presto! The flower magic of Bobo is just the right size to cover those ho-hum utility boxes or air conditioner units.
You’ll think of a million ways to incorporate this hard-working shrub in your garden design. Allow Bobo to help tie all your plantings together. It’s so easy, just repeat the use of one or more in every garden bed.
#ProPlantTips for Care
For best results, plant in rich, loamy soil that drains well after a rainstorm. If you see puddles that remain long after a rain, add additional soil in a heaped mound to 18 inches. Plant directly in that mound. Or, you can create a raised bed, if you’d prefer, to add formal structure to your plantings.
Don’t go overboard on the amount of shade. These plants need a half day and more of sun to produce the massive flower display. In too much shade, they produce fewer, smaller blooms. Thin overhead tree limbs as needed, and site your Bobo appropriately.
Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis. A yearly application of mulch spread to 2 inches deep all around the plant will help keep root systems nicely moist and cool. Please pull the mulch back away from the stems and crown of the plant.
Large flowers develop their blooms on new wood, so get out there and prune in late winter or early spring. You’ll be removing last year’s flower heads and shortening up each of the stems by 1/3.
Once your Bobo shrubs are mature, you’ll want to cut out the oldest, thickest stems out to the ground every few years. At that time, you’ll also simply shorten up the younger stems by a third. Leaving the thin, young stems in place will give you the best bloom for the season. This practice gives your shrub a rejuvenating performance boost.
Bobo is a wonderful dwarf Panicle Hydrangea with magnificent white blooms. Plant one as an accent plant or use a whole row of them. You’ll find plenty of room for this compact shrub. Use it wherever a dramatic splash of “flower power” is needed in your landscape. Order from the expert growers at Nature Hills today!
