Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Instant garden drama, whimsical floral design … and wild horses! The Pink Pampas Grass (Cortaderia selloana 'Rosea') is as eye-catching as a stallion and as whimsically colored as a fairytale. It forms huge clumps of thick, flowing green leaves that are beautiful and architectural on their own! But the real beauty is the foot-long sand-pink feathery plumes that crown this plant and raise it to fantastical heights!
It isn't easy to get to the Pampas Grass plumes. It's a happy kid indeed that got ahold of a thick plume stalk and cut it - then they had the handsomest-tailed stick horse to ride in the whole neighborhood! Imagine kids galloping around with the fluffy-plumed stalk between their legs yelling "Yee-haw!" and "Giddy-up!" at the top of their lungs!
Quickly reaching its mature height and width of 10 feet tall when in bloom and 3-4 feet wide, this dramatic warm-season Ornamental grass is sure to be a hit anywhere you place it. Make sure you plant it where you want it because it can be challenging to get rid of once it's established. Don't worry, Nature Hills is watching out for our shared environment by preventing shipments into sensitive areas!
Planting and Application:

Don't forget one in your cut flower garden and children's gardens - both will find a use for these fanciful plumes that are sure to make any garden look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book!
The big fluffy flowers and graceful flowing locks of Pampas Grasses look lovely along a fence to enhance (or hide) the view! #ProPlantTips for Care:
Pink Pampas Grass is simple to grow in just about any soil so long as it is well-drained! Plant in a full sun location and provide just enough water throughout their first growing season to get these big grasses established, then watch them go! In especially dry parts of the garden, supply moderate moisture to keep them looking their best. The blades of the grass have sharp edges, so be sure to wear gloves, tie up your grass bunches in the late winter or early spring and cut them back to a few inches. Clean out the crowns and divide in early spring every 3-5 years to maintain vigor.
- Full Sun Warm-Season Grass
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Any Well-Drained Soil
- Prune Down Early Spring - Wear Gloves!
- Very Fast & Easy to Grow
Of course, hobby horses were something before video games and cell phones, but we bet that kids would still ride a pretend pony when it's as gorgeous and whimsical pink as this! Tell them it's from a unicorn and watch them go!
Pampas grass grows like there is no tomorrow! So well, in fact, that some states have put it on the invasive species list, including Texas, California, and Hawaii. If you live in an area where Pampas grasses tend to get in trouble, fear not! Nature Hills Nursery is at the forefront of environmental regulatory compliance. We use an online tool called Plant Sentry™, which blocks shipments of plants that can behave invasively in your locale. Enter your zip code in the Plant Highlights section to see if there are any regulations on trade in your area.
