This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Two-foot-tall periwinkle blooms, the Starlite Prairieblues™ False Indigo PP19971 (Baptisia x bicolor 'Starlite') is the second introduction to the lovely Prairieblues™ series of Baptisia! The dramatically long flower stems resemble huge Lupine flowers and make great cut flowers!
In late spring, the deep, violet-lavender buds of Starlite Prairieblues™ unfurl into lovely periwinkle-blue blooms with contrasting butter-cream keels. The profusion of flowers rises just above the neat arrangement of blue-green foliage that stays naturally round and tidy. Starlite Prairieblues™ looks great even when not in bloom!
The remarkable charcoal-black seedpods add a nice touch to dried floral arrangements! Baptisia are hardy throughout USDA planting zones 5 to 8. It is rabbit and deer-resistant and has no pests or diseases either! Growing 2-3 feet in height and spreading 3-4 feet wide, mature plants can have an amazing number of blooms!
Planting and Application:
This lovely smaller Baptisia looks attractive on its own as a specimen in either the garden bed or a large planter! It is a good, vigorous grower, extremely long-lived, and destined to become a favorite in the garden!
Enliven a Cottage border or Cutting Garden, enjoy brimming armloads of blooms for your pollinators and vase arrangement bouquets! Any sunny location, Meadow garden, or modern prairie setting gains a pretty accent and that unusual blue hue brings sublime coloration to any landscape! Fantastic mixers, Starlite shines when combined in a border with other late spring and early summer bloomers!
These are lovely perennials and form orderly vase-shaped fountains of greenery that look great as backdrops. Use Starlite in rows that pop against walls and fences, or along a tired evergreen hedge or foundation planting! They even work as low-maintenance mass-planting spectacles!
Plant False Indigo around your defensible zone for a pretty firewise landscaping plant! Thriving in tough conditions and the hell-strip or Rock Garden, Baptisia are hardy natives that shrug off poor soil, Xeric, and drier conditions once they're established. In fact, Baptisia roots help fix nitrogen in the soil, making soil health better!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Full sun is best for this Perennial's most successful flowering and performance. It grows well in average to dry soil but adapts to most conditions. Baptisia has a very deep tap root, allowing it to survive long dry periods and making it a challenge to move once it is established. Provide consistent watering throughout its first year in the ground, but once established, these are xeric plants! All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of mulch over the root system whether they are in the ground or planters.
Deadhead after the flowers fade to clean up the mounds. In early spring, simply prune Baptisia to the ground. Transplant in the early spring if you must, but the deep taproots can sometimes resist being divided.
- Loves Sun & Heat!
- High Performance, Salt & Drought Tolerant
- Versatile & Adaptable to Most Well-Drained Soils
- Low Maintenance & Low Moisture Once Established
- Deadhead After Bloom & Prune Early Spring
- Rabbits & Deer & Drought Resistant
