At a glance, the Double Ringer Tall Bearded Iris (Iris germanica 'Double Ringer') looks like an angel! With its glowing yellows and soft creamy ruffled petals, this Iris will bless your garden and warm your heart! It has a sweet scent that pollinators love, and this Iris charms butterflies and hummingbirds, as much as it will charm your indoor bouquets!
We bet you're wondering how this Iris earned its name. While it is a ringer when it comes to performance, the Double Ringer Iris shows off with yellow rings around white, perfectly ruffled falls. Its ivory-white standards also feature a hint of yellow around their edges. This lovely Iris also glows with purplish haft marks that poke out just below its orange 'beards'.
Your yard will glow in late spring as the Double Ringer Tall Bearded Iris blooms. This iris isn't just breathtaking, its flowers are massive! Gardeners often remark how impressed they are that its stems are strong enough to hold these 5-inch blooms!
This heavenly sight is made even more dramatic by how tall this Iris grows. The Double Ringer is one of the tallest Iris varieties you will find! Its blossoms soar above its pleasant green sword-shaped foliage. These German Iris grow up to 3-4 feet tall, and 1-2 feet wide throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9, handling heat and winters chill with ease.
Planting and Application:
Plant your Double Ringer Tall Bearded Iris as a front border or foundation planting. For a real show, try a mass planting in the center of your yard or along your driveway and sidewalks without taking up too much space.

Any garden also becomes a pollinator garden, so tuck these flowers into your Cottage Gardens, mixed pollinator borders, in Rock gardens, and around Rain gardens! Hummingbirds will also arrive to sip nectar!
Small space gardens and planters of all sizes gain height and color with this small footprint, romantic plant. Keep these glowing blooms in mixed containers as thrillers, mixing and melding beautifully with other gold, cream, and orange blooms!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
For best results, plant your Double Ringer in well-drained soil in full or partial sun. It will come back year after year to dazzle your garden and impress your neighbors! Bearded Iris does best with mounded soil and begins to root after two to three weeks. Water it well for the first year. Once established, it is quite drought-tolerant, so wait for its soil to dry before watering it.
All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their roots, especially Iris rhizomes prefer only to be partially covered. Prune your Iris foliage back in late fall near the ground and cover it with an additional layer of mulch. The German Iris will be ready to divide and thin after about two to three years. You don't have to worry about rabbits or deer munching on them either.
Information About Bare Root Iris
Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots When you plant your Tall Bearded Iris rhizome, mound up soil and leave the top 1/3rd of the rhizome exposed.
Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover in the spring. Water well for the first year. Irises are best planted from late summer into fall.
