To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Nature Hills sells a large variety of plants with several options available. Plants are offered in both potted containers and as dormant bare root without soil. Here is a helpful resource to understand your options as you create a beautiful landscape with help from Nature Hills.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

Perfectly attractive Dark Green Spreader Yew (Taxus x media 'Dark Green Spreader') is a graceful workhorse for year-round color resistance to winter burn! You'll appreciate the soft, forest-green needles, hardiness, and useful, compact shape!
This naturally smaller hybrid Yew grows into a neat and tidy 3-4 feet in height and spreads to 4-6 feet for low but wide coverage! These can be pruned or sheared to any size your landscape needs and remain a dark green year-round fluffy and compact shrub either way!
Growing in almost the full range of full sun to partial shade to full shade, Yew are remarkable in their adaptability! Hardy and long-lived throughout USDA growing zones 4 to 7, these slower-growing Yews are not something to shy away from, that slow growth simply means easy care and low maintenance for you throughout the entire year!
Planting and Application:
Define your landscape with low hedges! or polish up the presentation of your home foundation. Nothing is easier to grow or maintain than Taxus Dark Green Spreader Yew! Yews have long been loved for their tolerance to shearing. But this spreading cultivar stays low and removes much of the time involved with this task.
These well-behaved landscape shrubs are incredibly versatile. In fact, some gardeners never prune them at all to enjoy the fluffy, organic shape "au natural".
Run them behind your patio seating for an easy-care, sophisticated screen. Then pop a few taller shrubs like Crape Myrtle, Lilac, or Viburnum behind them...placing them just where you need the most coverage for privacy.
Add valuable year-round texture to shrub borders with a facing hedge of Dark Green Spreader Yew. Space them three feet apart on center, measuring from the center of one to the center of the next.
On larger properties, you can create a mass planting to fill a bare area with restful dark green hues and tolerance to salt. Stagger additional rows behind the first; then mulch between the bushes. #ProPlantTips for Care:
Plant Taxus hybrids in any sun condition...from full sun to partial shade or full shade. It will tolerate clay and acidic soils if they are well-drained! Add Nature Hills Root Booster in the planting hole for life-long, symbiotic support of the tiny feeder roots.
Help the roots get established during the first season, by watering carefully on a consistent schedule. Use the finger-test near the base of the shrub daily and apply water as it starts to get dry. Before the ground freezes, give your evergreen shrubs a good long last drink for the winter to prevent them from drying out during the winters or suffering wind burn.
You can prune or shear it to control the height, but that's just a quick job once it reaches the height that you would like it to be. Some like to prune the tops into a point for a narrow formal pointed evergreen. Or, let it grow naturally into tall hedges. Older plants can be rejuvenated by trimming out longer portions of the plant back to a part of the stem that still has needles on it.
