To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Seasonally, Nature Hills offers hand selected, high quality bare root trees, shrubs and perennials. Bare root plants are sold by height from the top of the root system to the top of the plant. Plants may be taller than the height minimums.

With beards this bright, it's no wonder butterflies and Hummingbirds make this plant a necessary pitstop! While the Concertina Iris will fill your garden with a concert of pastel colors, it will also fill your day with free time. This low-maintenance beauty queen won the Award of Merit in 2006, and it's easy to see why. Wonderfully hardy throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 9, growing 27 inches in height but spreading 12-18 inches wide, these are space-saving specimens!
Planting and Application:
Show off your Concertina Tall Bearded Irises by planting a row along the walkway to your front door. While in bloom, your guests will feel like they're in a fairytale, and while not in bloom, this Iris still looks attractive with green sword-shaped foliage that can appear violet at the base.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Concertina Tall Bearded Irises like to show off their beautiful heads in full sun or partial shade. For best performance, provide yours with well-drained soil. Plant your Bearded Iris in late summer into fall for best results. All you have to do is prepare a small hill of soil and plant it in the center with its rhizome poking out. They like lots of water to help them establish their first year, but you won't need to water as much once they are settled.
They become relatively drought-tolerant so it's better to err on the side of less is more when it comes to their water. All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their roots, especially Iris rhizomes prefer only to be partially covered. Prune your Iris foliage back in late fall near the ground and cover it with an additional layer of mulch. The Concertina German Iris will be ready to thin after about two to three years, and you don't have to worry about rabbits or deer munching on them, they tend to leave them alone.
Information About Bare Root Iris
Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots When you plant your Tall Bearded Iris rhizome, mound up soil and leave the top 1/3rd of the rhizome exposed.
Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover in the spring. Water well for the first year. Irises are best planted from late summer into fall.
