Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Important Notes
Container Volume Specifications
- Trade Gallon Standard: Our containers follow industry-standard "trade gallon" specifications established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI Z60.1) for nursery stock
- Volume Variations: Actual soil volume may vary due to plant root systems and growing medium settlement
- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment
Seasonal Availability
- Bare root plants are available seasonally when dormant
- Container plants are available throughout the growing season
- Specific varieties may have limited availability in certain sizes

White and deep purple-maroon, the Rem's Favorite Tulip Blend (Tulipa 'Queen of Night', Tulipa 'Rem's Favorite') is a high-impact color combination of Rem's Favorite with its brilliant white hue with dark purplish-maroon flames, combined with the deep maroon silken petals of Queen of the Night Tulip.
Backed by a vase-shaped flourish of soft green strappy foliage and held upon strong stems, these perennial bulbs bring in the pollinators and fill your spring bouquets and vase arrangements with fragrant, colorful blooms!
Growing into 22-24-inch tall clumps, Tulips are fall-planted perennial bulbs that are cold-hardy and so easy to grow! Rem's Favorite Tulip Blend flowers in the late spring and shine with the Rem's Favorites bi-color combo that contrasts against the Queen of the Night in your landscape!
Planting and Application:
Add this high-impact color blend to your mixed perennial beds and borders, along pathways and your driveway gardens! The brilliant blooms are as lovely in pampered Cottage gardens as they are in your spring Rock gardens where Tulips appreciate the good drainage.
Try forcing Tulip bulbs indoors in a pretty shallow tray, or mixed with other perennial fall-planted bulbs in the late winter, and enjoy a pretty table centerpiece to welcome spring vibes in the middle of winter! Rem's Favorite Tulip Blend even looks great in container gardens and seasonal mixed planters on your porch or potted up on either side of your front steps.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Tulips do their very best in a well-drained location in full to partial sun. Tulips do not like continuously wet soil so water newly planted bulbs very well. Once established, you will only need to provide supplemental water if it gets dry that fall, or during summers when you have extensive heat and drought. Top-dress with a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to consistently hold in soil moisture and insulate the perennial bulbs.
Deadhead the flower heads once they fade but let the foliage remain to make food for the bulbs. Trim away the leaves and remove them from the area once they turn yellow. Apply an early spring application of bulb food.
Tips on Planting Tulip Bulbs
Plant Tulip Bulbs in the fall about 6 to 8 weeks before a hard freeze (or anytime in the autumn when the ground is still workable.). Place the perennial bulbs in a hole with the pointy end upward and at least 8 inches deep (about 3x the length of the bulb), spaced about 4-6 inches apart.
- Full Sun & Partial Shade Outdoors & Indirect Sun Indoors
- Bulbs Need Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Low Moisture Once Established
- Deadhead After Flowers Fade & Prune After Foliage Yellows
- Fall-Planted Perennial Spring Flowering Bulbs
