Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment

Are you looking for a plant to produce fresh, juicy strawberries in your edible landscape? Try one of our favorites, the Sequoia Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa 'Sequoia') which has been rated as one of the best tasting Strawberries available!
The Sequoia Strawberry produces very large, dark red, plump, and sweet strawberries. Considered a "june-bearing" variety, production starts early in late spring and lasts for several months and into Autumn. The berries start firm, but soften as they get larger.
The Sequoia Strawberry spreads via runners which fan out from the parent plant, to establish new plants. You can create quite the Strawberry patch! Trust us, you're going to need one after tasting one of these super sweet berries!
Try planting them in containers and placing them around your patio or deck where you can watch them grow daily. Strawberry plants are beautiful edging, groundcover, lawn additions, and mass plantings that bring so much to the landscape!
- Cheerful White Spring & Summer Blooms
- Large Early Glossy Red Berries
- June-Bearing & Beyond
- One of the Best Tasting Very Large, Sweet Berries
- Stunning, Edible Groundcover & Versatile Landscaping Usage
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Like most fruiting plants, the Sequoia prefers full sun, so it's perfect for the sunny spots in your yard. Well-drained soils and consistent moisture are also key for producing large, healthy Strawberry crops. It is best when you snip off their runners the first year. When the second year comes around, you can snip and replant your rooted runners elsewhere each spring.
The Sequoia Strawberry plant is incredibly resistant to nasty diseases like powdery mildew. Not to mention, it is very heat-resistant, which makes this variety fabulous for the Southern states. Clean the mounds or beds in the early spring to remove old foliage.
- Heat & Humidity Resistant Strawberry - Great For Southern Climates!
- Well-Drained Enriched Soil
- Regular Moderate Moisture Needs
- Prune In Early Spring
- Mildew & Disease Resistant Plants
- Cold & Very Heat Tolerant
