Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment

Growing Zones 3-8
Brilliant flowering groundcover, White Nancy Lamium (Lamium 'White Nancy') has beautiful oval, variegated silvery-white leaves with greenish margins. You'd be hard-pressed to find a perennial with prettier foliage than this!
But the leaves are not all this plant has going for it, White Nancy spires of pretty, hooded white flowers grace the foliage all spring and summer! The milky blooms attract bees and butterflies, creating a finishing touch to the brilliance of this perennial's appeal all growing season!
Also known as Spotted Deadnettle, these pretty perennials are a vigorous groundcover that blocks weeds and spreads about 2 feet wide but only grows about half a foot tall! This white flowering perennial will spread fast without being invasive, so if you have an area to cover and want it covered now, this is the plant for you!
Then it blooms from late spring into summer and will add tiny crowns of white flowers to the already brilliant display. Thriving throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 8 and are easy-to-grow, vigorous plants!
Planting and Application:
White Nancy begins its year with just its foliage as if to let you know the leaves themselves should be fully appreciated. Show off their silver and white color combination in your mixed planters and patio pots beneath your covered porches and patios! Loving more shady locations in the garden, use Lamium as edging, groundcover, and rambling down hillsides or over the tops of retaining walls.
White Nancy looks great among Hostas, Ferns, Lungworts, flowering bulbs, and wildflowers. Plant at the edges of your woodland garden to soften the edges between the landscaped yard and nature. Ideal plants to light up the Moon Garden, White Nancy brings an ethereal beauty to Cottage Gardens and mixed perennial beds, and both Rain Gardens and Rock Gardens alike!
Use Lamium in hanging baskets, in mixed container gardens, trailing over walls, or as an edger, but spread must be controlled. Try clipping some of the foliage off and adding it as an accent to your bright flower bouquets. The blooms last from late spring into summer and will add tiny crowns of white flowers to the already brilliant display as they spill and fill your window boxes and add fringe to formal urns!
- White Midseason Flowering Spires
- Shiny Silver Variegated Foliage
- Low-Growing Spreading Clumps
- Gorgeous Spreading Groundcover
- Great For Hanging Planters & Containers
#ProPlantTips for Care:
White Nancy grows best in part shade or full shade in a moist area. Plant these herbaceous perennials in well-drained soil and do not allow it to dry out. We suggest adding a layer of mulch around its base to help protect the roots from the glaring sun while conserving water. Prune and clean the mounds in the early spring before new growth emerges, but other than that, Lamium is low-maintenance, deer-resistant, and adaptable!
- Partial Shade & Full Shade
- Almost Any Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate to Low Moisture Once Established
- Deadhead For Rebloom & Prune Early Spring
- Deer Resistant Perennials
No wildflower garden, container plantings, or perennial flower bed is complete without White Nancy Lamium. Order yours today from our expert growers at Nature Hills Nursery.
