Beautiful Hardy Hibiscus (Luna Rose)

I ordered 2 Luna Rose quart size plants and they arrived in great condition! Upon arrival I planted them in the ground and they have grown into beautiful plants! They just started flowering and the bright pink flowers are gorgeous!! Thank you! Buy the hardy hibiscus they are stunning plants… and they come back every year. : )

Hardy hibiscus have a way of rewarding patience, and it sounds like yours are doing exactly what they should, settling in and putting on a real show. Those bright pink blooms on Luna Rose are hard to miss once they get going. Thanks for the encouragement to others about the perennial habit. That part really does make them special.

Love it!!!

The plan grows not that fast but the flowers are beautiful and we love it 😍

Hardy hibiscus does take its time getting established, so that slower start is completely normal, and the payoff once those blooms open is hard to beat. Glad the flowers are living up to expectations for you, Min. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Luna Rose!

Received a healthy little plant

Received a healthy little plant. No blooms yet. Very young yet. Hope it does well

Hardy hibiscus can be slow to settle in that first season, putting most of their energy into roots before they show off those big blooms. Sounds like yours is off to a solid start, and once it gets established you should see it take off. Thanks for sharing the early update, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions along the way.

My Luna Rose Hardy Hibiscus arrived healthy.

My Luna Rose Hardy Hibiscus arrived healthy. I planted in a lage pot and placed on my sunny patio where it continues to grow. She has no blooms yet but am looking forward to them. Have other plants out there for color now.

Hardy hibiscus can take a little time to settle in before putting energy into blooms, so it sounds like yours is right on track with good growth already underway. A sunny patio is a great spot for it, and once it decides to flower you will not be disappointed. Luna Rose puts on quite a show. Thanks for sharing the update, Mary.

She seams to be growing fine

She seams to be growing fine, thanks

Hardy hibiscus can take their time getting established, so it is great to hear yours is settling in and putting on growth. These plants tend to really hit their stride once the roots get comfortable, so keep an eye out for those big blooms. Thanks for the update, Emily!

outstanding service

outstanding service, hardy plants

Hardy hibiscus can be slow to wake up in spring, so it's good to hear the plants arrived in solid shape and ready to get established. Thanks for the kind words, Tom. We hope the Luna puts on a great show for you this season.

Disappointed!

I email a photo of the barely alive hibiscus you sent. It’s the worst plant I have ever received in the mail. Never ordering from you again, Thanks. No one responded after I sent email with photo

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I water Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus and does it need consistent moisture?

  • Hardy Hibiscus prefers consistently moist soil but tolerates some drought once established. Water deeply 2-3 times per week during the growing season, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and reduce watering frequency.

When does Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus bloom and how long does the flowering season last?

  • Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus blooms from summer through fall with massive dinner plate-sized flowers. This hardy perennial grows 2-3 feet tall in zones 4-9 and produces its stunning rose-pink blooms continuously throughout the long season. Shop at Nature Hills for this showstopper.

Is Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus deer resistant?

  • Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus is generally deer resistant due to its membership in the mallow family. The thick, fuzzy foliage and sturdy stems are typically unappealing to deer. For best protection in zones 4-9, plant it closer to high-traffic areas where deer are less likely to browse.

Does Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus need to be cut back in winter or fall?

  • Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus should be cut back to 4-6 inches above ground level in late fall or early spring. As a perennial that grows from roots to full 2-3 foot size each season in zones 4-9, it naturally dies back in winter. Cut stems after they've turned brown for easiest cleanup.

Can Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus tolerate clay soil or does it need well-draining conditions?

  • Luna™ Rose Hardy Hibiscus tolerates clay soil well, as it's naturally adapted to handle moisture retention. This hardy perennial thrives in zones 4-9 and actually benefits from consistent moisture during its growing season. Plant it in clay areas where you need reliable color all summer, available at naturehills.com.
