Avid gardeners, collectors, and designers can't get enough of the showy style of Japanese Maples. Our expert growers can barely keep up with the demand!

Well...just wait until you see this special selection. You may not believe your eyes!

This exquisite small tree marries the heart-catching, shallow-lobed, palmate leaf shape of Japanese Maple with a brilliant splash of variegation. Make the most of your landscape with the dynamic good looks of Beni Schichihenge Japanese Maple Tree (Acer palmatum 'Beni Schichihenge').

The bright blue-green leaves are pinstriped along the outer margin with an incredible mix of rose-pink and pristine white. The overall effect is a spotlight with coral-orange undertones! New leaves uncurl on crimson stems, and they keep their color all the way through summer and fall! In fact, this Maple's name translates to "red and changeful". This changeling continues to transform in the autumn when the color erupts as magenta!

Nature Hills growers take great pride in these rare and special compact trees. We even work with Bonsai enthusiasts to deliver the perfect starting point for a new passion project!

Landscape Application:

In a tiny courtyard, add a single tree as an attractive specimen plant. You can carefully sculpt your tree to create a custom fit with thoughtful pruning. However, we do recommend that you allow enough room for the mature height and spread of these pretty trees. Spend time with your unique tree when you receive it, turning it this way and that before planting.

Did you know you can plant intentionally trees at a tilt? Why not create an arched allée over your front doorway, removing a limb or two as needed to raise the canopy for access?

Beni Schichihenge Japanese Maple inspires people. Enjoy the never-ending creative process of gardening! Plant one or more in a Japanese-inspired garden. They look wonderful on a planned berm planting. Try these small-scale ornamental trees as a focal point in a Meditation Garden, or plant several to become living wallpaper in an outdoor dining room.

Keep the lower limbs on them to create a slightly shrubby look. They can be enjoyed as a larger-scale screen if you have the room. Incorporate them into mulched planting beds to anchor your foundation or patio plantings. They make a spectacular informal grouping on a berm planting; and are unsurpassed near a pond or water feature.

Grow them in extra-large containers with plenty of drainage holes on your balcony. Give container trees a sheltered spot located out of the brunt of strong, gusty winds.

Each leaf features different patterning and you'll want to spend hours studying their overall effect. Use this to your best advantage by placing it as a focal point in a high-traffic area. Let the charming Beni Schichihenge Japanese Maple elicit amazed reactions to help spark conversation. Grow them in the ground, or keep them in extra-large containers for many years!

No matter how you use these gorgeous trees, you'll draw the eye of all who pass by them. Commercial property owners...take note of these living sculptures that command so much attention.

#ProPlantTips for Care:

In the warmest climates, give this slow-growing deciduous tree a spot in the afternoon shade. They require at least four hours of sunlight a day. Plant in rich, well-drained soil. We highly recommend you include the time-tested Nature Hills Root Booster to set your gorgeous tree up for success. It supports the tiniest roots as they access moisture and micronutrients, and never "wears out". Please pay close attention to watering. Give a consistent schedule of supplemental water.

Apply pine straw or pine bark mulch over the root system to keep the soil evenly moist and cool. Always pull the mulch back at least six inches from around the trunk for proper air circulation. Make strategic pruning cuts in late winter or early spring. Do yourself a favor, and plan these out in advance. Decide what to keep first, then remove only what you need to.

  • Grow in Full Sun or Partial Shade
  • Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Consistent Moisture
  • Prune When Dormant If Needed
  • Appreciates Mulched Beds

You know these wildly popular trees won't last long. If you see them in stock on the site, please order right away. Place your order for Beni Schichihenge Japanese Maple Tree today! You'll be thrilled to track your colorful new garden ornamentals right to your doorstep.
