#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Iris in early fall to get your Iris established nicely, choosing an area that receives full sun, or partial sun locations. Irises do best when planted in well-drained soil with the top of the rhizome exposed, unless you live in a hot climate, then provide a thin layer of soil. Plant yours in a mound of soil to help shed away water with a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to conserve moisture. If the roots are bundled tightly, be sure to fan them out then pack the soil tightly around. Provide your iris with ample water when it's rooting.

After your Irises take root they will thrive. Once established, your Iris will only need to be watered once its soil is dry. As the years pass, you will want to divide them and transplant the new rhizomes every 2-5 years depending on how closely they're planted together.

Information About Bare Root Iris

Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots. Container plants are well-grown in the nursery for several years in their container to establish a strong root system.

When planting Iris, which are best planted in early to mid-fall, ensure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover them in the spring.
