Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment

Peachy perfect, the Gipsy Queen Hyacinth (Hyacinthus 'Gipsy Queen') is a gorgeous tall spire of curly bell-shaped juicy peach blooms that smell as sweet as can be! These gorgeous spring blossoms brighten and perfume your garden beds and borders with delightful creamy flowers and clumps of upright green foliage!
Hyacinth bulbs may not be the earliest emerging spring ephemeral flowers, but they are the most dramatic! Bridging the gap between Crocus and Tulips, these giant wands of flowers rise up from the center of strappy rosettes of green each year!
Hyacinths are bulbous plants closely related to the Lily family. Browse our entire collection of Hyacinth, or filter your options by growing zone, sun exposure, color and other factors. These peachy dream boats look gorgeous among white, pink and lavender/blue blooms! Mix and match with other spring-flowering bulbs for an incredible display that shakes off the winter doldrums!
Planting and Application:
Great throughout any garden bed or border, these are low-growing edging and look fantastic in groupings throughout rock gardens, pollinator beds and around the base of larger trees, shrubs and structures! These are darlings in protected containers and planters outdoors, or as forced indoor décor! The flowers look lovely in spring bouquets too!
Intersperse them throughout perennial beds and cottage borders or even cutting gardens where the large blooms mingle among larger plants without disturbing each other's root systems. Appreciating the shade later emerging plants cast once the blooms are spent. For lovely color and spring fragrance, plant Hyacinths where you can enjoy their sweet scent.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Hyacinthus bulbs need to be planted in the fall before a hard frost in your growing zone. Place the bulbs with pointy ends up in 4-inch holes and 6 inches apart. In colder regions, plant 6 inches deep to keep them safe over winter. They need well-drained soil with sun to partial sun.
- Full Sun & Part Shade
- Moderate Moisture
- Enriched, Well-Drained Soil (Rots in Soggy Conditions)
