The Siam Chinese Evergreen Kokedama Ball (Aglaonema 'Siam') is a lovely tri-color tropical evergreen plant that has vibrantly-colored pointed leaves in a dazzling display of green and white variegated foliage, each dramatically stained in varying shades of dark pink to red along the margin, throughout the leaf and along the leaf stems! New growth especially has the most color! Similar to a Dumb Cane (Dieffenbachia) in appearance, these are easy to care for tropical houseplants!
Chinese Evergreens like Siam do produce an occasional, small white spathe flower and won't need much fuss or care from you to keep them looking amazing! These are some of the easiest houseplants around, because of the Kokedama root 'binding' method - they will never need to be repotted!
Displaying Your Kokedama!
You can either suspend your plant in a sunny window or display it on a desk, table or atop a sunny kitchen shelf for a truly unique focal point! Hang in groups of three by shimmering chains or wire for a unique suspended display, or in an open geometric hanging plant display. Even shelves on your wall and an open bookcase near a window are ideal ways to show off your Kokedama! Plus they are portable so you can display your prize anywhere you need!
Chinese Evergreens are air purifying plants that improve your health while improving the air quality and oxygen in your home or office! #ProPlantTips for Care:
Chinese Evergreens do prefer higher air humidity, so misting your plant or increasing the relative humidity around the plant is preferable. Hang or display in any kind of bright, yet indirect sunlight for the most color, but Aglaonemas can tolerate some partial shade and office lighting too (at the cost of some of that incredible color).
To water your Kokedama, simply submerge the bottom 3/4ths of your moss ball in a dish or the sink and let soak for 5-10 minutes or so. Remove to a draining area for 20 minutes to let excess water run out of the root system. Then place it back into its display.
Because of many factors, the watering frequency will vary throughout the year. Dry winters with dehumidifiers running - you may need to water a couple of times a week! If your Kokedama is as light as air or your plant is wilting, you need to check it a bit more often or soak it a bit longer each time. If the plant is heavy and it's a humid summer week, you can skip watering. Root rot is a death sentence for many plants.
