Regal Splendor Hosta (Hosta 'Regal Splendor') is a stunning sport of Hosta Krossa Regal. It demonstrates the same upright vase-shaped habit of its parentage, but Regal has frosty blue leaves that are edged with a creamy yellow margin to highlight the deeply veined foliage.

This very elegant-looking Hosta provides tall stems of lavender flowers that appear in August. The late-season blooms attract grateful Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies to your garden, while the tall scapes and trumpet-shaped blooms look great in your cut flower bouquets!

Regal Splendor received the 2003 American Hosta Growers Group Hosta of the Year. Once it has matured, Regal Splendor is definitely one of the most beautiful Hostas in the garden! Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 3 to 9 and can reach a space-saving 2-3 feet in height and width.

Planting and Application:

Use Regal Spendor to create skirting of bold two-tone leaves around larger plants to hide their leggy stems, or edging along paths and walkways! As at home beneath large shrubs and trees understories, Hosta happily spread throughout Pollinator gardens, shady Cottage gardens, and foundation plantings on the shady areas of your home!

Regal Splendor is most at home in the dappled woodland settings and often works well as a specimen, low-maintenance as en masse attractions, and as colorful focal points in the mixed perennial border. They'll also help control erosion on slopes and gullies, and is a fine size for groundcover, edging, or specimen use! Pot up in a large planter or container to elevate your landscape, let drape over the edge of an urn as a showy accent around covered seating and porches.

  • Frosty Blue Leaves Edged With Yellow

  • Pollinators & Hummingbirds Love It
  • Upright Vase Shaped Clumps
  • Perfect Filler for Shade Gardens, Edging, Specimens & Large Planters

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant this low-care herbaceous Perennial in an area that receives partial shade and even full shade, especially in the hottest of its favored growing zones. The leaves need some morning sun to bring out the best coloration since too much sun will burn the leaves. Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained, highly organic soils with a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Provide moderate yet consistent moisture throughout the growing season and these appreciate a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch chips to help hold in moisture. Deadhead these after flowers fade, and clean the foliage away from the plant once it dies back in the autumn.

  • Glorious in Full Shade or Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture & Needs Well-Drained Soil
  • Appreciates Mulch
  • Prune in Late Fall After Leaves Die Back
  • Divide Every Few Years
  • Extremely Cold Hardy

The Regal Splendor Hosta is a vivid upright Perennial with stunning blue and yellow! Once the Regal Splendor has matured into its very elegant famous vase-shaped form, it may become your favorite Hosta! Order yours at Nature Hills today!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Hostas need full sun or shade?

Hosta does best in full sun in cooler climates but does appreciate afternoon protection from the worst of the summer sun, especially in the hottest of their growing zone range. In the hottest climates, Hosta like partial shade or dappled shade, and some varieties will do great in full shade.

Where do Hostas grow best?

Hosta plants love enriched, well-drained soil that is moderately yet consistently moist throughout the growing season. They appreciate mulched garden beds.

Do Hostas come back every year? Are Hostas a perennial plant?

With vigorous carefree growth, Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants that will return year after year with little maintenance.

What do you do with Hostas in the fall? What do you do with Hostas in the winter?

Hosta leaves will die back after frost but the crowns and roots remain intact and dormant until next spring. Prune back the leaves once they turn brown in the autumn and remove them from the plant's area. For winter protection, add a layer of compost or mulch over the crowns to protect them from the chill.

Do Hosta attract hummingbirds or pollinators?

Hostas are loved by pollinators and hummingbirds! All walks of beneficial pollinators will show up to sip their nectar.
