- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age

Growing Zones 3-9
The Daring Deception Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Daring Deception') has beautiful dark purple centers with dusty peachy-lavender-pink, slightly ruffled petals, and dark green, semi-evergreen foliage. This variety will bloom from early to mid-summer and is a constant rebloomer! Enticing bees, butterflies and hummingbirds to come sip nectar and you'll love the bold flower bouquets you can create with these incredible two-tone blooms! Sometimes, the ruffled petals edges are graced with matching purplish-red too!
The fragrant Daring Deception variety has won multiple awards, including an Honorable Mention at the American Hemerocallis Society in 2005! Daylilies are some of the easiest plants to grow and are a good choice for any gardener! Though only lasting for a day each, Daylilies produce multiple buds per stem and Daring Deception is a vigorous rebloomer too!
Daylilies are tough tetraploid perennial plants, thriving in chilly USDA growing zones 3 up to the hot summers of zone 9 Daylilies' fleshy roots store water making them fantastic in the Xeric garden and they are on many fire-wise defensible space landscape plans!
Planting and Application:
Use the Daring Deception Daylily for specimen plantings, mid-border accents, and in mixed perennial gardens! Tough enough for Rock Gardens and lovely enough for the Cottage Border. Daylilies are well-known edging and garden fillers, spilling over the edges of garden beds, pathways, the tops of retaining walls, and as facer plants to hide leggy stems of larger trees and shrubs.
Planted together in large numbers en masse, they quickly crowd out weeds and make a carefree and colorful living mulch. Once established, the Daylily can be an excellent groundcover on slopes because it has roots that hold soil, preventing erosion. Turning a hard-to-mow hill into a favorite spectacle!
These two-foot tall and wide perennials are also fantastic focal points or specimen plantings in planters and containers on your sunny porch and patio! The grassy foliage spills over planter edges and the blooms shine in the sun, scenting the immediate area where they grow!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Blooming the very best in full sun, and appreciating a touch of afternoon/partial shade in hotter climates, easy-to-grow Daylilies thrive in almost any soil that is well-drained and enriched, but once established can handle occasional drought to wet soil conditions. Provide regular moisture when young and during the worst of drought for the prettiest foliage. Top dress with 3-4 inches of arborist mulch chips.
Deadhead to encourage rebloom, then trim the entire scape to the crown of the plant once all the buds are spent to clean up the mound. In late autumn after frost, remove all foliage to the ground and dispose of it away from the site to prevent rusts and diseases from overwintering. Divide in the early spring, about every 3-5 years to maintain vigor and flowering size.
The Daring Deception Daylily can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot, including, pollution, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in the winter, and under Black Walnut trees, as it is not affected by juglone.
- Tolerant of Full Sun & Afternoon Shade
- Adaptable in Any Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture - Low Once Established
- Prune Late Fall, Deadhead Regularly & Divide Every 3-5 Years
- Seldom Bothered By Deer, Rabbits, Salt & Pests
This brilliant perennial plant gives your garden a vivid, stunning display and is a profuse bloomer and rebloomer! Get your Daring Deception Daylily from Nature Hills Nursery today!
