The Obsidian Coral Bells (Heuchera 'Obsidian') with its jet black, smooth round leaves, has the darkest foliage to date of the Coral Bells; closer to true black than any other Heuchera. This wonderful deep purplish-black foliage also has a polished glassy luster! In early summer, smoky purple buds appear on tall shoots and then open to cream-colored flowers atop wiry stems.

Coral Bells are grown more for their foliage color but the small blooms that they form attract hummingbirds and bees! You'll also love these dainty blossoms in your bouquets as airy filler. The dramatic contrast of dark leaves and creamy-white blooms is incredible! The textured coarse foliage also contrasts with the light and graceful bell-shaped blooms.

Like most Coral Bells, easy to grow Obsidian thrives in partial sunlight but once established it will also grow in shade. Hardy throughout USDA growing zones 4-9, these little gems have 8-10 inches tall when in bloom and spread to around 16 inches wide.

Planting and Application:

Use this Coral Bell as a ground cover, in rock gardens, as a border plant, or as an edging along paths and walkways. This 12-inch mounded plant will set off perfectly any bright flower in the garden or a container! Add low-growing enticing foliage to pathways and as accents that brighten everything around them! Pair the Obsidian with Coral Bells Lime Ricky or Marmalade for a fantastic color contrast!

Attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, Obsidian Coral Bells will surely become a "must have" as it contrasts dramatically with bright colors in your garden! Add these as space-saving dark pops of color in groupings throughout the Perennial border or a modern Cottage Garden.
