Strong, spicy aroma and spicier color! The Paprika Yarrow (Achillea millefolium 'Paprika') is an upright flowering ornamental with vivid cardinal-red flat-topped clusters of florets accented with gold centered! The brilliant red blooms fade to light pink & creamy yellow as they age, giving your entire plant a lovely multi-hued effect throughout the growing season!

With fern-like, aromatic silvery to gray-green foliage, Paprika is considered to be one of the best Yarrows in any sun garden or hot and humid landscape! The foliage has a somewhat strong, spicy aroma, which persists when used in dried arrangements! Don't forget to snip a few of those brilliant red blooms for your bouquets too! Fresh or dried, the flowers accent any vase or dried arrangement beautifully!

Yarrow blooms from June through September, often until frost, much to the delight of every bee, butterfly, and beneficial insect around! Very cold-hardy and heat/humidity resistant throughout USDA planting zones 3 to 9, this Yarrow will grow quickly to a 24-inch height when in bloom, and spread to form clumps 18-24 inches wide.

Planting and Application:

The spicy red blooms add some zip to your sun gardens and sunny porch or patio planters! Enliven a weary front garden or mailbox garden with fiery color! Either a singular focal point, accent groupings, or go big with a brilliant en masse display of unexpected color that will be easy to care for!

Paprika is excellent for cutting, fresh or dried, so include its brilliant blooms in your Cut flower garden, Cottage border, or mixed-perennial garden for vases full of unique fresh color! Any garden becomes a Pollinator garden when this bright red bloom appears each summer until fall! Cottage gardens get a brilliant pop of color, and landscape beds gain easy edging and garden filler!

Yarrow are tough plants and can withstand xeric garden sites, Rock Gardens, and that tricky hell-strip along a road, sidewalk, pathway, or driveway! They are also an integral part of a fire-wise landscaping plan!

  • Flat-Topped Deep Red Flower Clusters
  • Long-Lasting Flowering Display - Spring Through Frost

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Yarrow is a rugged herbaceous perennial that should be planted in full sun and is tolerant of hot and humid summers. This Achillea does well in average garden soils but prefers lean, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soil. Avoid heavy clays and moist, rich, fertile soils that hold moisture excessively since these plants despise soggy roots.

Top-dress with a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch to not only make them look better but also hold moisture and insulate the roots best. Once established, allow your Yarrow to dry between waterings for best success because they despise soggy soil.

Deadhead faded flowers regularly to promote continued blooming. Inclined to spread some, so site this plant carefully or plan to divide the clumps every 3-5 years. Divide and prune back the mounds in the early spring before you see new growth.

  • Performs Beautifully in Heat & Full Sun
  • Tolerates Dry Soil & Needs Well-Drained Sites
  • Moderate to Low Moisture Needs Once Established
  • Prune Early Spring
  • Drought Tolerant
  • Rabbits & Deer Resist This Cultivar

Get ready to spice up your garden with the Paprika Yarrow plant from Nature Hills Nursery! For an attraction to butterflies that's deer and rabbit-resistant, you can't go wrong with this rugged perennial!
