Stonecrop has very low moisture needs and is very cold-hardy in growing zones 4 and up. Thriving in any kind of well-drained soil, Sedum tolerates poor or rocky soils with no problem. In fact, Stonecrop grown in organically rich soil are actually lanky and weak-stemmed. Provide a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch for best results.
