The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

A beloved foliage houseplant, the Boston Fern (Nephrolepsis exalta) is a tried and true way to add a lush natural look to your home, porch, patio, or other shady to bright indirect sun locations. With soft, feathery fronds, Boston Ferns (nicknamed the Sword Fern) have an enormous personality!
New fronds froth upwards from the center of the plant, then arch downward in a graceful sweep. The fine-textured cut-leaf fronds have pretty curls at the ends of the young leaves and have a glowing bright yellow-green hue!
With a fast-growing nature, these Ferns are actually native to the humid forests of South America and Florida. Fantastic in protected locations and indoors, these plants can be brought indoors before cold weather starts in the fall throughout cooler growing zones, but in warm, frost-free locations, Boston Ferns can remain outside year-round but do best in pampered, shady locations.
Planting and Application:
They make fabulous hanging plants. Or, choose to place them on a tall plant stand or pedestal. They'll make an incredible room divider and soften any angles in your furniture placement. As they mature, you'll love the deeply symmetrical look.
Hang your Boston Fern in a sunny window in your bathroom, where it will enjoy the post-shower humidity! Install a sturdy ceiling hook and use a hanging basket for your Boston Fern or pot up in a container. Just be sure you can reach to add water as needed. Your Boston Fern would love it, and you'll feel like you are on vacation every morning.
Why not try a pair on either side of an entry or to flank a large window? Hanging evenly spaced along a covered front porch or back deck will transform the area into a soothing hangout and add a cool, refreshing effect!
- Lush Long Finely-Cut Foliage
- Full Fountain-Like Form
- Incredible Air Purification Capabilities
- Can be Used in Hanging Baskets & Containers
- Shaded Patios, Porches, Lush Greenery Indoors & Out
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Boston Fern is a relatively easy care plant, although it does need regular TLC. Place them in indirect sunlight near a window. No direct sun, please! Moisture is critical to these gorgeous foliage plants. You'll need to keep the soil consistently moist and the humidity air high. Fertilize every 4-6 weeks throughout the growing season/ These Ferns appreciate compost and moisture-retentive soils and lots of air humidity.
Use the Finger Test when watering - Touch the soil several times a week to see if you need to add filtered water. You'll start to develop the touch when your plant is getting dry. You may need to add water daily, or several times a week. Better to actually touch the soil, than rely on a set schedule. Evenly moist soil is always best. Trim away yellowing fronds and give them a gentle shake to clean out fallen leaf matter from the crown. Repot and divide your containers every 3-5 years. Check out our Garden Blog for indoor houseplant care during the winter.
