Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

With fine-textured, dark green leaves and small white flowers in spring, the Bushel and Berry® Blueberry Glaze (Vaccinium x 'ZF08-095') will make your landscape look amazing. This deciduous, compact Blueberry plant is similar to a Boxwood.

But this incredible, edible plant also produces beautiful berries. Once ripe, fruit is packed with aromatic flavors and antioxidants.

Perfect for patio pots or the landscape, Blueberry Glaze is a treat not only for your mouth. This ornamental edible offers a visual treat, too.

The fruit starts off green, then the color show starts. The berries turn yellow to red then a dark blue.

Berries in all these colors are displayed on this compact Blueberry plant at the same time. Even the leaves turn a pretty mix of red, purple and yellow in fall.

You’ll find so many ways to use these small, compact Blueberry shrubs around your landscape, patio, balcony or deck. And they make fantastic gifts, too!

We will run out of the Blueberry Glaze Blueberry. If you see it in stock, be sure to place your order right away!

How to Use Bushel and Berry® Blueberry Glaze™ Blueberry in the Landscape

Now, Nature Hills loves Boxwood shrubs. They polish up any landscape with ease and grace. That’s why we sell so many incredible varieties.

But… we’ve never made a pancake with Boxwood. And Boxwood muffins just don’t taste very good.

People are adding Blueberry Glaze as low hedges and accent shrubs to boost the productivity of their yards. They are a fun and easy way to boost the appeal of existing foundation plantings and garden borders.

Who would have thought that Blueberries could be so ornamental? From the flowers, to the color-changing berries to the fall color, these small shrubs add a fabulous look.

Create a solid hedge by planting them 18 inches apart on center. You’ll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

Grow these productive plants in containers anywhere you want to draw the eye. Try a pretty pair of them flanking either side of your front entryway.

You’ll have an instant ice-breaker with guests.

The berries ripen in mid-season. They are small and sweet, great for fresh eating. Add them to your morning bowl of oatmeal, or use them in yummy desserts.

The plants are quite tolerant of urban conditions. For a funky modern look, try them along your front sidewalk and underplant with Strawberry plants as a groundcover.

Go ahead, make a big statement! You’ll brighten the day of everyone who passes by. Make food — and gardening — fun again with Blueberry Glaze from Nature Hills.

#ProPlantTips for Care

Blueberry Glaze likes a bit of afternoon shade in the USDA Growing Zones 7 and 8. Otherwise, they should thrive for you if they receive 6 - 4 hours of direct sunlight a day.

This variety needs good air circulation, and shouldn’t be placed up against a window that will reflect light. Give it a bit of wiggle room, so the air can flow around it.

Blueberries require well-drained, acidic soil with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. If you have alkaline soil with a high pH, or clay soil that retains moisture, try growing them in containers.

Plant them in acid loving plant soil mix. Use pathway bark or pine straw for about 25% of your total mix.

Top with pine straw or bark mulch, and fertilize with Dr. Earth Acid Lovers Natural and Organic Premium Fertilizer according to the directions on the label.

Provide a moderate amount of water on a regular basis, especially during fruit production.

Blueberry Glaze is actually a cross between Vaccinium (augustifolium x mrysinites) and Vaccinium corybosum hybrid. Overall, it could be identified as a Vaccinium hybrid and has both Lowbush and Highbush genetics in it.
