Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Growing Zones 4-9
The Dream Catcher® Beauty Bush (Kolkwitzia amabilis 'Maracdo') is a wonderful and regrettably underutilized deciduous shrub with dramatic ever-changing color throughout the growing season!
Beloved for its orderly oppositely arranged foliage that emerges in spring as copper, then turns yellow before maturing to a green-tinted golden-chartreuse by summer and finally transforms orange and gold in fall.
This lovely shrub has long, arching stems that stretch up and out before weeping, becoming smothered in clusters of five-petaled pink bell-shaped flowers that have spotted golden orange throats. Closely related to Weigela and Diervilla, the similar-looking flowers attract equally as many Hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies to their display!
Maracdo Beauty Bush, sometimes spelled as one word, is widely adaptable throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 9 and can reach a stunning 6-9 foot size. Once the deciduous golden orange fall foliage drops, you'll enjoy persistent seed capsules and exfoliating bark on mature stems as delightful winter interest.
Planting and Application:
Bolster your foundation plantings with a showy cascading Dream Catcher® planted at the corner of your home, or set upon a raised front yard berm for all to see! The golden chartreuse foliage and cascading branching will catch the eye of everyone driving by!
Equally impressive in long rows, where each shrub is given some room to spread and show off its form without crowding, becoming high-impact hedges, privacy groupings, backdrops, and property division without excessive maintenance! Best when grown in their natural weeping form, create straight or winding rows, informal allees, zigzagging borders, and formally spaced screening by planting 5-7 feet apart on center.
A single specimen brightens an entire garden bed and shows off among other chartreuse foliage shrubs, yellow and orange flowering perennials, or yellow variegated foliage plants. Light up a mixed shrub border along the back of your property without worrying about deer, or add contrast to dark evergreen trees and shrubs in a windbreak or shelterbelt!
- Early Spring Soft Pink Flower Clusters With Orange Throats
- Color Changing Foliage - Coppery to Yellow to Chartreuse
- Hummingbird, Bee & Pollinator-Friendly
- Golden Orange Fall Color & Exfoliating Bark
- Large Form With Long Arching Stems
- Dramatic Backdrops, Privacy, Hedges, Specimens & Impressive Property Division
#ProPlantTips For Care
Kolkwitzia should be planted in full sun to part shade in cooler climates, but are happier in part shade/afternoon shade in hotter growing zones. You'll get the best foliage color in filtered sun locations. Highly adaptable to many types of well-drained soils, including clay soil that doesn't become soggy. They need moderate yet regular moisture during their establishment phase, but once they are settled in their new home, only need supplemental moisture during drought and prolonged heat spells.
Plant with Nature Hills Root Booster for lifelong symbiotic root support. As with all plants, these shrubs appreciate 3-4 inches of arborist mulch spread around their root system, but not piled up against their stems.
Kolkwitzia blooms on old wood, so only prune immediately after flowering to not interrupt their flowering. It is best to renewal prune instead, removing the fattest, oldest stems from the interior as close to the ground as possible, every 3-5 years.
- Best in Partial Shade
- Any Well-Drained Soil - Tolerantes Draining Clay
- Moderate Moisture Needs
- Blooms On Old Wood - Prune After Flowering Only
- Deer Resistant Deciduous Shrub
