#ProPlantTips For Care

Pink and Sweet performs best in well-drained, acid, organic soil that maintains a uniform moisture level all year. It grows 3-5 feet wide and 4-6 feet wide. Site selection is very important because Rhododendrons and Azaleas have shallow roots that will dry out quickly during periods of limited rainfall.

Remember not to plant these shallow-rooted plants too deeply. Mound them up in a hill of extra soil, leaving an inch or two of the root ball showing. Mulch well and avoid disturbing its roots, and fertilize twice a year with an acid-loving formula, and water well throughout the growth period. Prune to shape and open the interior immediately after flowering and ever prune after mid-summer because those branches produce the next season's flowers.

  • Plant in Full Sun & Partial Shade
  • Moderate Moisture & Enriched Well-Drained Soil
  • Mulch Well
  • Prune After Flowering Only
  • Very Cold Hardy

For an adorable addition to your landscape, fragrance galore and low-maintenance, you won't go wrong with a Pink and Sweet Azalea from Nature Hills, so order today!

Azalea and Rhododendron Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best place to plant an Azaleas?

Azaleas and Rhododendrons prefer partial shade (both dappled shade all day or morning sun with afternoon shade). Plant in a slightly acidic, consistently moist, enriched, and well-drained soil location for best results. Their shallow roots dislike soggy soil but thrive with a 3-4 inch layer of arborist mulch over their surface.

How big does an Azalea get?

Pink and Sweet Azalea can grow around 3-5 feet tall and 4-6 feet in width, when grown in optimal conditions.

Are Azaleas low maintenance?

Azalea and Rhododendron shrubs are very easy to grow and low maintenance. Water during drought, prune only after flowering and fertilize with an acid-loving organic, slow-release flowering plant fertilizer.

What is the difference between Rhododendrons and Azaleas?

All Azaleas are Rhododendrons but not all Rhodondendrons are Azaleas. Azalea tends to be smaller-sized with smaller leaves and stems, while Rhododendrons can be larger with stout branching and larger bloom trusses. There can both be either deciduous or broad-leaved evergreens.
