Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

The National Audubon Society line of native plants and trees have been specifically selected to help birds and wildlife in your area! The Audubon® Native Black Gum Tree (Nyssa sylvatica) is one of our most beautiful native trees! With nicknames such as Sour Gum and Tupelo, this majestic specimen is often used as a  Shade Tree, street tree, or for Tupelo honey!

Featuring clusters of tiny, light greenish-white flowers that bloom for months in springtime, the beneficial pollinators appreciate reliable nectar. Ornamentals like these appear to glow in the fall when light shines through the colorful leaves. The airy, pendulous branch structure, lovely form and textured bark have tremendous visual interest!

The long leaves are glossy dark green on top and pale beneath. They'll flash and wave in the breeze, creating a restful experience. Birds too bask in the shade of this wildlife resource and eat the fruit! Cooler fall temperatures bring an incredible color display, turning a burnished mix of brilliant scarlet, purple, orange and yellow!

Planting and Application:

Caterpillar host plants that call pollinators to your garden and their larvae feed your local songbird population and their chicks! Fall brings small fruit that birds feast on to be ready for winter! This Pollinator-Friendly choice helps homesteaders and edible landscapers boost yields from their victory gardens and backyard orchards.

Robins, Woodpeckers, Bluebirds, Flickers, Waxwing Nuthatch and many others raise their chicks and find shelter in the broad limbs! The fall fruit also help fatten migrating and wintering birds up for the cold winter months!

  • Caterpillar Host Plant - Black & White Hebrew Moth and More
  • Small Fall Fruit Feeds Songbirds
  • Excellent Nectar-Resource for Pollinators
  • Tiny Clusters of Flowers Bloom for Months
  • Great Fall Color Trees
