Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Redwood Trees! The name conjures up images of massive 300-foot tall trees that are so big you can drive a car through the trunk, which is certainly not the goal of the modern home garden. This is especially true considering our shrinking garden spaces.

So it's time to rethink these mighty trees and sing the praises of the Aptos Blue Coast Redwood Tree (Sequoia sempervirens 'Aptos Blue') from Nature Hills! What you will get is a gorgeous tree that grows ramrod straight with stunning spongy-soft red bark and blue-green foliage.

Forming a tall pyramid of strong limbs, this species provides vital habitat and food for wildlife, songbirds, insects, and mammals. As the tree grows, the branches begin to bow down just slightly giving it a pretty 'weeping' effect.

Landscape Application:

Give any shelterbelt, windbreak, mixed evergreen treeline, or backyard tree line a woodsy coastal feel without worrying this Redwood will steal the entire scene and outgrow its neighbors!

A single specimen or front lawn focal point planting becomes a prominent landscape feature for all the neighborhood to see, leaving an indelible mark for generations to come. They love moisture so they are perfect trees for well-watered urban lawns!

In backyard settings, if you have the room, Aptos Blue Redwood trees look fantastic in small groups or groves and as hedgerows along your property's edge. Quickly becoming your neighborhood's wildlife and songbird hotspot! You'll gain shade, protection, and curb appeal in one fell swoop!

  • Blue-Green Flattened Sprays Of Needles
  • Pyramidal Canopy Becomes Slightly Weeping With Age
  • Mighty Resource For Wildlife
  • Strong Straight Trunk, Red Bark & Faster Growth
  • Windbreaks, Lawn Specimens, Shelterbelts & Lasting Legacy Trees

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Read up on how redwoods fare in your area or by contacting your County Extension Office. Throughout USDA planting zones 7 to 9, the Coast Evergreen Redwoods grow equally well in full sun or part shade (when they are young, at least until they outgrow and outlive their neighbors!).

Choose a site with plenty of space for their future 20 - 40 foot spread in a well-drained location with regular moisture access. A 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch around the tree's root system gives them an edge during the heat of summer and throughout drought.

Prune young trees to correct branching, remove double leaders, and nip off damaged or dead limbs in the late winter or early spring. There is little to worry about local deer eating these trees unless desperate.

  • Full Sun Trees Tolerate Part Shade When Young
  • Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate to Higher Moisture Access
  • Prune Late Winter/Early Spring
  • Deer Seldom Bother Redwood

Consider Aptos Blue Coast Redwood Tree a true investment! Pick the best spot in your landscape with plenty of room to grow. Give it a little love. Then stand back and rest assured that your Redwood will be enjoyed for generations to come! Order yours from NatureHills.com today.
