Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Starting from scratch with a blank slate? Or, reworking an established planting to add a little more "oomph" to the design?

Count of the nearly indestructible charm of hard-working Yewtopia® Plum Yew (Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'Plania') for year-round color and definition. These small, tidy evergreen shrubs grow in any sun condition from blazing sun to gloomy shade, which is a welcome—and rare!—attribute.

The erect branches grow up and out into a vase-shape, which gives these petite evergreens an energetic look. Use them just about anywhere you need a steady pop of color.

These workhorses add a subtle, elegant evergreen display to your design. The fine needles of this Japanese Plum Yew variety are held in a frankly adorable spiral all the way along the slender stems.

They'll hold their dark green color in sun, shade, winter, spring, summer and fall. New growth adds a lighter shade for dimensional interest.

Don't forget the evergreens in your garden design! Yewtopia is a great choice to repeat in many areas. You'll love the consistent look of these high-performance green-needled evergreens.

Although the spring blooms are insignificant, you may see tiny, plum-shaped fruit in fall on female plants. They'll be quickly enjoyed by songbirds in your area.

Yewtopia is blissfully easy-care. It laughs at heat, pests, deer, humidity, and even periodic drought. And you can put away your pruning shears, you won't need them.

You'll be fighting garden designers across the country for these high-quality, commercial-grade plants. If they are in stock on our site, order plenty of Yewtopia® Plum Yew today.

You'll want to order enough to complete your entire project. We'll sell out quickly.

How to Use Yewtopia® Plum Yew in the Landscape

You truly should consider including these valuable shrubs in every planting bed. Allow them to become steady backdrops for superstar perennials and Roses.

They'll trim the edge of your mixed shrub border with a long-running green ribbon. The growth reaches for the sky, but the plant stays nice and pint-sized.

Add them to your foundation planting for a polished look with a very modern sensibility. No pruning required!

Rip out the big old monsters you may be saddled with from decades gone by. Replace them with the ease and handsome good looks of Yewtopia.

For a low hedge, plant them two feet apart on center. You'll measure from the center of one to the center of the next.

Create a mass planting with additional rows. Stagger the next row for a faster fill.

Outline a rectangular planting bed with a Yewtopia hedge, then fill the center with flowering shrubs. Yes, we are saying you could replace Boxwood with Yewtopia.

Use them as the "bones" of wide borders. Repeat them regularly along the mid-ground between taller shrubs and perennials. You'll gain a much-needed layer of year-round color.

For a designer look that is easy to live with, grow shade-loving Yewtopia in large outdoor containers. Don't underestimate the delight you'll take from these understated arrangements.

Supporting player? Absolutely.

Yewtopia plays the strong, silent type role with alacrity. Use them to the fullest advantage to take your landscape up and over the top.

#ProPlantTips for Care

No need to worry about sunlight. They'll handle sun, shaded understory position, or north-facing aspect just fine.

Yewtopia needs well-drained soil. Elevate the plants in a mounded heap of dirt 18 inches high by three feet wide. Add a decorative landscape edge for a raised bed.

Apply a medium amount of water on a regular schedule, especially while your plant is young. If you grow it in containers, supplemental water is a must.

As the shrub ages and becomes established in your yard, you can feel free to go on vacation. It can handle a bit of drought. However, if the dry spell lasts a long time, protect your investment with watering.

As well, we like to have you spread a three-inch layer of wood mulch over the root systems. You'll improve your soil over time, and keep the roots cool at the same time. Always pull mulch back from touching the stems.

In hardiness Zones 6 and 7, be sure to water your shrubs well in late fall before winter comes on. Hydrated needles can more easily withstand winter damage.

Enjoy your yard! Add a bold texture, while you easily define the space you call home. Order Yewtopia® Plum Yew today.
