Where to Plant

• Sunlight: This Cordyline thrives in full sun to partial shade, requiring at least 6 hours of direct light to maintain its vibrant burgundy and pink hues. In hotter Southern climates, providing afternoon shade prevents the leaf margins from scorching while still allowing for rich color development.
• Soil: It prefers rich, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter, similar to a high-quality potting mix. If you have heavy clay that holds too much water, plant it in a raised bed or a container to ensure the roots do not sit in soggy conditions and rot.

Watering Requirements

During the first growing season, water deeply twice a week to help the root system move into the surrounding soil. Once established, Southern Splendor is remarkably drought tolerant, though consistent moisture results in much glossier foliage and faster growth. If the plant goes through extreme dry spells, you may notice the tips of the leaves turning brown or the plant shedding its lower leaves prematurely.
