Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Lush pinkish-lavender and lemony yellow with a splash of raspberry, the Sapporo Gladiolus (Gladiolus x hortulanus 'Sapporo') is a lightly ruffled beauty that is sure to make a striking focal point in your sun gardens every summer! Sapporo, meaning 'Dry, Great River', is a city in Japan, and this gorgeous bloom beautifully embodies the beauty of the scenery there.

The enormous spires are packed with flowers along the entire stem, each opening gradually from the bottom to the top! This gives you a long bloom time for weeks each summer, and plenty of unique colors to enjoy in vase arrangements and feed visiting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds that will be drawn to your garden by these incredible blooms!

Gladiolus are summer-flowering corms, and are reliable perennials but need to be lifted in the fall in colder growing zones. Try planting waves of corms 2 weeks apart to extend your bloom time and give you plenty of flowers for bees and bouquets!

Landscape Application:

The soft hues of Sapporo Gladiolus make it an ideal companion plant for other lavender, purple, pink, chartreuse, yellow, and magenta flowers in your garden! Having the highest impact when used in groupings and meandering rows, try clustering your Sapporo together throughout sunny Cottage gardens and mixed perennial borders.

The tall wands become gorgeous backdrops to your flower beds, light up a tired foundation or evergreen hedge, and set off the edges of a pathway! Try mixing with other Glads or tall flowering perennials like Oriental Lilies, Hollyhocks, and Dahlia for a gorgeous summer presentation that will also fill your vases in luscious blooms, and turn every garden into a pollinator garden!

Sapporo Gladiolus isn't a space hog either! In fact, you don't need a yard to enjoy these tri-colored blossoms! Mix Sapporo into planters as tall thrillers, or mixed container gardens as a prominent summer focal point! Porch, patio, and balcony gardeners can all play with these tall showy wands!

  • Gorgeous Lavender-Pink Edges, Bright Yellow Petals & Magenta Splashes
  • Upright Sword-Shaped Green Foliage
  • Long-Lasting Bloom Time
  • Fantastic Cut Flowers & Pollinator-Friendly
  • Specimens & Groupings, Container Thrillers & Focal Points

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Gladiolus are strongest in full sun in cooler growing zones but appreciate afternoon shade in hot growing zones. Any well-drained soil location works great. These bulbs do appreciate moderate yet regular moisture access and mulched beds.

Plant these corms in the spring about 6-8 inches deep. Groupings and rows have the biggest effect and impact on your garden, so plant your corms pointy side up about 5-6 inches apart.

Stake your flower wands unless you plant your Glads in a location protected from the wind. Deadhead as soon as the last flower fades but keep the greenery to make food for the bulb until they turn yellow.

In zones 1 through 7, lift your corms as you would Canna or Dahlias, and store them for the winter in a cool, dry location.

  • Full Sun & Afternoon Shade In Hot Climates
  • Moderate Moisture Needs
  • Organic Well-Drained Soil
  • Deadhead After Blooms Fade & Prune or Dig in Fall
  • Spring-Planted Summer-Flowering Corm
  • Deer & Rabbit Resistant

Soft lavender pink mixed with bold yellow and raspberry, Sapporo Gladiolus is simply to die for! Order today at Nature Hills and we'll ship your bulbs to you at the proper planting time for your growing zone!
