East Friesland, like most Perennial Salvia, appreciates being situated in full sun and well-drained soils. Once established, this plant is drought tolerant and can handle being on the dry side. That being said, keeping this plant well watered though is a great way to ensure East Friesland Salvia will rebloom for you throughout the summer! It may require a bit more water during those, particularly hot summer days to keep the blooms returning.

While this plant is known for its long-lasting blooms in the summer, some spikes may start to droop. This is particularly common in humid climates. Should you encounter this problem, simply cut the flower spikes back to the foliage. With regular deadheading as the flowers fade, you’ll encourage wave after wave of bloom until frost!

Salvia care is easy and perfect for those who prefer gardening that requires next to no maintenance. If you'd like, you can prune back the plant in late winter for the best growth, or you can truly "plant it and forget it".
