Blanc Double de Coubert Rugosa Rose bush (Rosa 'Blanc Double de Coubert') is an antique Rugosa Rose with double-petalled, large flowers in gleaming pure white! These prolific flowers emit a strong fragrance of old-world Rose with a hint of licorice, which Blanc Double de Coubert is renowned for!
Blanc Double de Coubert is a marvel of nature, with flowers and foliage of exceptional beauty. Each impressive, 3 to 5-inch blossom is semi-double with a refined, pristine-white hue. The Roses are reliable repeat bloomers, sure to continue their impressive show in your yard all summer long and even up until the first frost.
Even the dark green foliage has an added ornamental twist to it, with each leaf featuring a lovely, textured appearance. When the Roses have completed their show, the blossoms transform into bright orange Rose Hips, an additional splash of color for your winter landscape. The flowers work well cut for vases or dried for crafts. The hips are high in Vitamin C and are even useful for jams, tea, and decorative purposes - indoors and out, especially for winter.
Blanc Double de Coubert is a Hybrid Rugosa Rose that is naturally disease-resistant and exceptionally cold-tolerant, handling temperatures down to USDA growing zones 3 through 7. Overall, this easy-going, hardy Rose even has some shade tolerance too!
Planting and Application:
Plant a few for an elegant hedge along your house, a few in your rose garden, or even just one as a focal point in your perennial bed. They also have the impenetrable thorns of the family that keep unwanted visitors out of your garden! Fantastic hedges, privacy row additions, and flowering screens that protect your landscape!
Pair with other Rugosa Roses like the vibrant pink Hansa Hybrid, or the light pink Therese Bugnet Rugosa Rose! These are ideal backdrops, corner fillers and landscaping bed anchors! Imagine the scent and brilliant white blooms creating outdoor rooms, pinpoint privacy or screening around your private spaces.
While helping keep both two and four-legged trespassers out of your yard, Rugosa Roses are favorites for songbirds and wildlife! Create groupings that are bird-friendly shelters and nesting sites, while also becoming a nectar-boon for hungry honeybees and butterflies! In the fall, the rosehips that form again feed your local birds and migrating birds on their way south for the winter!

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Rugosa Roses are exceptionally hardy ornamental flowering shrubs! Tolerating both full sun and some partial shade, lower moisture locations once established, and even thriving in a wide variety of soil types - just ensure they are planted in well-drained soil. Roses appreciate a 3-4 inch thick layer of arborist mulch chips year-round and otherwise are easy to please!
If you prefer to maintain this Rose at a smaller size, each spring trim all of the canes down to about a foot tall. Pruning is best done in early spring if needed. Read all you need about Rose pruning Here, and about winterizing Roses, and un-wintering Roses in Spring in our #ProPlantTips Garden Blog! Don't forget the Nature Hills Root Booster, to give this fragrant Rose life-long support when used during planting.
