Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

*If you have found your zone already, it will be highlighted in the table below.

Not quite a Lime, not quite a Lemon, the Rangpur Lime Tree (Citrus limonia Osbeck 'Rangpur') is a unique fruit used in Indian cuisine. This super sour hybrid cross between a Mandarin Orange and a Lemon bursts with flavor. A native of India, this zing-filled fruit is a glowing orange color that looks much like an Orange and peels and segments the same way as an Orange. But the similarities stop there.

Cut into it and you will release a sweet floral aroma of honeysuckle, but taste one and you'll experience the extreme sourness of a bitter lemon. That same honeysuckle scent permeates into the Rangpur Lime's leaves too, which are often used by foodies in cooking. The purple and white flowers have their own divine fragrance too!

Hardy in USDA zones 9-11, these trees are gorgeous ornamentals in their own right. The glossy broadleaf evergreen foliage fills out nicely on these dense, bushy mid-sized trees.

Planting and Application:

Use the Rangpur Lime in many of the same recipes that call for a regular lime or lemon. Substitute it for Key Limes in a classic key lime pie, or squeeze it for limeade with a kick. Each Rangpur Lime easily yields up to 3 tablespoons of juice for adding zippy flavor to pork, fish or international fare.

Great indoors or out, these are fantastic porch and patio plants, houseplants in sunny bright windows, or smaller edible landscaping accents and focal points! Use as hedges to block an eyesore or gain privacy. Just warn your nosy neighbors that these aren't oranges, or else they'll take a bite and get a shock!

  • Orange Inside & Out - Distinct & Zingy Flavor
  • White & Purple Fragrant Flowers
  • Self-Pollinating
  • Long Fruiting Season
  • Versatile & Well-Loved

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Plant Citrus Trees in full sun and very well-drained soil. They like low moisture once established and even prefer to dry out a bit between waterings, especially in containers. Fast-growing too, Rangpur develops its fruit early on in life, so you don't need to wait long to expect the first harvest.

Although Citrus can grow year-round in warmer regions (zones 10 to 11), they can also thrive in colder-winter areas (zones 4 to 8) as long as the tree is brought indoors before the first frost of winter.

In zones 8 and 9, you can cover your tree in the event of a cold snap or unexpected overnight freeze. Citrus will need to be planted in a sheltered spot to avoid the worst of the chill, and not planted in a low area that collects cold air. If a spot like that is unavailable, or you are in a chill-prone climate, then you are safer planting Citrus Trees in a large, deep container with wheels to easily move them to a protected location or indoors when needed.

In cold growing zones, begin slowly acclimating your tree indoors in the fall, or into a protected location, eventually moving your tree inside. Indoor plants need a bright indirect sun window, greenhouse, sunroom, or enclosed patio for the winter. In spring, reverse this process and begin acclimating your tree to again be back out in the full sun all summer. This reduces stress and leaf drop.

  • Full Sun
  • Very Well-Drained Soil
  • Moderate Moisture
  • Regular Fertility
  • Prune After Fruiting

So, this Lime isn't a Lime and isn't green! It's really more of a Sour Orange/Lemon! But whatever it is, you will absolutely want the Rangpur Lime Tree in your home this year. Order yours today from NatureHills.com!
