2 Panicle Hydrangrea Shipped - Only 1 Survived

Nature Hills Nursery shipped 2 Tidbit Panicle Hydrangeas to my home in the same container. One arrived in good condition and the other was essentially dead. I have planted the good Hydrangea, and it seems to be doing well in my garden. I recommend different packaging when shipping 2 plants together. Both plants should have their base pot on the same side of the container with verbiage on the box stating, "This Side Up". The 1 that did not make it was planted with the base pot facing the opposite direction of the other plant. When the box got turned "upside down" in relation to the Hydrangea that arrived in good condition, some of the moist soil in the "bad" plant apparently fell out.

Communication was terrible, the hydrangea was in terrible shape upon arrival

First of all, the communication with this company has to be the worse I've ever experienced, it took almost 3 months before I got the oakleaf hydrangea( I emailed this company several times regarding the shipping info with no response) not to mention that I ordered a red slipper but got a alice white hydrangea (they charged me for a red slipper tho)
Upon arrival, this plant was in terrible shape, broken new growth, torn leaves and not enough soil around its roots, the box it came in looked like it had been kicked around. Now that the hydrangea has been planted and being cared for it looks much better.
Unfortunately!!!
I won't be ordering from this company ever again

Terrible quality Azure Skies Hydrangeas

Terrible quality Azure Skies Hydrangeas. I ordered #3 pots and they took 3 smaller plants, bundled them together and shoved them into a #3. When you plant them the root systems are not even established so they literally fall apart. As you can see from the photos they are terrible quality. Avoid avoid avoid and go support your local nursery instead.

ZERO Customer Service

I ordered two of these plants. I received one, dying little plant. Emails have gone unanswered. If you call, you get their voicemail and no one will call you back. The website says “use our live chat”, but that does not exist. I got scammed by this company.

Disappointed in this one

Disappointed in this one. It looked less than healthy when received, dead leaves in the box and some were deformed and spotty. As a new gardener I thought it was just in shock from travel and planted right away. Watered often and kept removing the damaged leaves. Today I noticed fine webs on the underside, suspect spider mites. Removed bad leaves again and washed the plant. Hoping it survives. Bought 3 different shrubs, this was the largest and most costly unfortunately. Satisfied with my other plants

I Loved these!

I Loved these! I had a pink Victorian home so wanted the White Annabelle Hydrangeas. - After a couple years they were so full and beautiful year after year. They recommended the Root booster for about $15 and added that as well. You will not regret buying these. Beautiful year after year!

Worst experience ever

Plant arrived dead. I’ve reached out multiple ways email, chat support, social media(they deleted my comment) it’s been over a week now so might as well just take this as a loss and never order from this company ever again. Google the reviews. Search Facebook. Plenty of negative reviews saying this is a scam. I should have done more research on this company.

Shes Beautiful!

Very first time planting this flower, coming from Houston Texas. I was a little nervous since these plants require a lot of care and water but she has been doing so well!!! I water her twice. Early morning before work (6am) and after sun down (after 7pm). I placed some mulch on the pot so that has been helpful at keeping the soil moist. I was really afraid of drowning her or giving too much water mostly in the early afternoon where the sun was starting to burn through leaves due to me giving it water at 5pm. Shes blossoming beautifully and cannot wait until shes fully open. I also recently purchased her back at the beginning/mid May. Very fast shipping too!

Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review for our Endless Summer Bigleaf Hydrangea. We're so happy to hear that it's doing well in your care and that you're taking such good care of her. It sounds like you have a great watering routine in place and the mulch is definitely a helpful addition. We hope you continue to enjoy watching her blossom and thank you for choosing our product. Happy gardening!

Annabelle is doing great

Annabelle arrived a bit dehydrated and that worried me. So I pampered her with water, light shade and clipped any leaves that were concerning. After a week or so, she perked up and now has a lot of good new growth. I am glad I treated the hydrangea with patience because that was all it really needed.

All good so far

It's alive and growing, and extremely thirsty for gallons of water. Mine is a #3 size shrub, tall enough to have a noticeable "front" and "back." The front has a fuller look, more flowering branches, and the back has taller branches at the top and more spindly stems down the side. Probably from its orientation at the nursery. I planted it back to front before I noticed this growing pattern, but I expect after a year or two with pruning, the shape will even out. It already attracts pollinators to the pretty flowers. I've seen tiny native bees and honeybees checking it out, so we're good to go!

So far, so good! 👍

I was thrilled to find original Quick Fire for sale, because Proven Winners discontinued that variety several years ago. The plant is doing great, but I'm reserving judgement until I see that it is original Quick Fire and not one of the derivative varieties. I have all my documents just in case...

Frequently Asked Questions

Is pinky winky a panicle hydrangea?

  • Yes, Pinky Winky® is a panicle hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'DVPPinky'). This variety produces massive 14-inch flower spires that start white and gradually turn pink as they age. Plant it in sun to partial shade for best blooming performance.

What hydrangea likes full sun?

  • Panicle hydrangeas like Pinky Winky® thrive in full sun, producing their largest 14" flower spires in sunny locations. Unlike other hydrangea types, panicles actually prefer more sun exposure. Plant along your home's sunny foundation or in full sun garden beds for best results, available at naturehills.com.

What USDA hardiness zones can Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea survive in?

  • Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea thrives in USDA zones 3-8, making it one of the most cold-hardy hydrangea varieties available. This robust shrub can withstand temperatures down to -40°F. Plant in full sun to partial shade for best flowering performance.

How tall and wide does Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea get at maturity?

  • Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea reaches 6-8 feet tall and 6-7 feet wide at maturity. This sturdy shrub develops thick stems that easily support its massive 14-inch flower spires. Plan for adequate spacing when planting, as mature plants need room to showcase their full, dramatic form.

What type of soil does Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea prefer?

  • Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea thrives in well-draining, fertile soil with consistent moisture. This adaptable shrub tolerates various soil types from slightly acidic to alkaline. Amend heavy clay with compost for better drainage, and shop at Nature Hills for healthy plants.

Are Pinky Winky® hydrangeas deer resistant?

  • Pinky Winky® hydrangeas are generally deer resistant, though hungry deer may occasionally browse them. The thick stems and sturdy structure help the plant recover quickly from any damage. Plant them in areas where deer frequent for a beautiful, low-maintenance solution.

What are the best companion plants to grow with Pinky Winky® hydrangeas?

  • Pinky Winky® pairs beautifully with purple perennials like Russian sage or salvia that complement its pink tones, plus shade-loving hostas beneath its canopy. The 14" flower spires also look stunning backed by evergreens like arborvitae or juniper. Plant shorter companions in front to showcase the hydrangea's dramatic height.

How do I prune Pinky Winky® Panicle Hydrangea and when should I do it?

  • Prune Pinky Winky® in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Cut back by one-third to one-half, removing weak or dead wood first. The thick stems support those massive 14" blooms, so don't over-prune or you'll sacrifice flower size.

Can Pinky Winky® hydrangeas be grown in containers or pots?

  • Pinky Winky® hydrangeas thrive in large containers and planters, especially around sunny seating areas. The robust plant with its 14" flower spires needs substantial pot space to support its hefty growth. Choose a container at least 24 inches wide for best results.
