Covered with white blossoms in the spring, the fragrant blooms attract a host of pollinators. Ushering in spring with incredible beauty! Pears have deep-green leaves offering summer shade with their glossy leaves, lightly toothed edges and pleasing oval form in the landscape!

This Pear variety grows vigorously! Golden-yellow when ripe, these round fruits are smooth, thick-skinned and shiny, making them look like gilded ornaments! The white, creamy flesh is smooth with a mild and sweet flavor!

The Orient pear ripens in August, having the reputation of being the heaviest bearing Pear Trees, it also produces large-sized fruit! That just means more for you and your family (and friends, and maybe a neighbor or two if you like them enough).

You’ll certainly have enough to try in all your favorite recipes. A fantastic pear for cooking, sliced fresh into your fruit salad or onto your breakfast cereal, add to a charcuterie board for a divine addition to compliment a fancy goat cheese and nut platter!

Cook into pastries and tarts, Orient Pear is also great for creating delicious jellies, canning, pear butter or spiced pears!

Fall brings more color displays to your garden as the foliage takes on a golden and bronze appearance before dropping the leaves in winter to display the handsome bark and branching structure!

How to Use Orient Pear Tree In The Landscape

Forming a handsome oval form at maturity, these are fantastic ornamental trees that provide so much more for your landscape throughout the year than just fruit, however delectable it is! Providing shade all summer, you’ll enjoy basking beneath the lush foliage in a lawn chair or laying a blanket out beneath the gorgeous spring blooms!

Sized to perfectly fit into any sized yard or home orchard, you can prune these smaller yet to shade patios and seating areas, anchor larger garden beds and tuck into existing landscape designs or home orchard!

Orient does best with a pollinator partner such as Bartlett or Kieffer or other European Pear. Plant in a row with its pollinator trees for larger harvests, or with other fruit trees to create a hedgerow that provides luscious fruit while also creating great privacy and screening!

#ProPlantTips For Care

With resistance to Fire Blight and Leaf Spot, these are very easy to grow trees and hardy in USDA growing zones 5 through 8! Full sun is needed for optimal health and vigor of your tree, providing at least six hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day, favoring the morning sun.

Best in deep, fertile, sandy loam, well-drained soils, Pears will grow on many soil types as long as good drainage is provided. A generous layer of mulch helps retain soil moisture as well as insulate the root system from heat and chill.

Provide ample water for your young tree while it becomes established, not allowing it to dry out between waterings. Then reduce your watering to moderate, yet consistent moisture during the heat of summer and when fruiting. While somewhat drought-tolerant, it's best to protect your investment by providing supplemental watering in times of need.

For best results, fertilize your tree regularly with Dr. Earth Fruit Tree Fertilizer or a good organic, slow-release fertilizer. Add Nature Hills Root Booster while planting for a life-long symbiotic relationship with the tiny feeder roots.

Situate in an area that is protected from frost pockets and with good air circulation. Prune to keep an open canopy so that both sunlight and airflow reach the interior.
