Germander

Look to the past to find today's inspiration! Germander (Teucrium chamaedrys) has graced the grounds of castles and thatch-covered cottages alike.

Germander is an evergreen plant that is both an edible herb and a decorative shrub! The small, waxy leaves grow all along the length of the upright stems.

Choose how you'll keep it in your landscape. Like Boxwood, it can be kept fluffy with a loose and natural look.

Germander's leaves give off a nice herbaceous scent when crushed. In the fall, the leaves develop a lovely reddish tint and persist through most of the winter.

This plant is a member of the Mint family and can also be used to control erosion and for bank stabilization. It makes a rewardingly lush mass planting when planted eight inches on center.
