Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Red-Hot Statement Houseplant Fiddle-Leaf Fig

  • Bright, Indirect Light
  • Large, Beautifully Glossy Foliage
  • Ornate, "Fiddle"-Shaped Leaves are Wonderfully Thick and Leathery
  • Incredible Texture Houseplant
  • Soften Corners and Hide Ugly Views

This dramatic houseplant defines the look of today's generation. Casual, yet impressive. Boldly charming...and just a bit rough-textured and scruffy.

Designers love the handsome good looks and broad, wavy leaves of Fiddle-Leaf Fig (Ficus lyrata). It is a perfect study in contrasts, after all.

Lustrous, large leaves look like they've been waxed. Their thick petioles are borne from stems that visually look shaggy, but feel nice and smooth.

Let it grow as a proud specimen on a long, single standard trunk, like an indoor tree. Or, you can encourage a bushier screen with multiple stems. Either way, you'll be thrilled with the way it instantly elevates the tone of your home.

Use one or more Fiddle-Leaf Fig trees to add texture to your bedroom, home office or living room. You'll breathe much easier, and not just because this plant has relaxing good looks.

NASA air quality study gave Fiddle-Leaf Fig a top-tier rating on its innate ability to improve indoor air quality. The wide-spreading leaves absorb nasty toxins like formaldehyde and benzene from your environment; leaving oxygenated air in exchange.

These larger-than-life plants become a passion project in your quest to accentuate your home space. Why not give your Fig a name? Go ahead and talk to them. Allow them to become a "plant pet".

Order these fabulous trees from the expert growers at Nature Hills. Enjoy Fiddle-Leaf Fig for yourself, or give them as a very welcome gift plant.

How to Use Fiddle-Leaf Fig in Your Interiorscape

There is something so modern about the robust look of Fiddle-Leaf Fig. People grow them for different rooms, and there are many ways to enjoy them.

If you have a tough view that you want to hide, use the massive leaves of Fiddle-Leaf Fig as a living screen. Mass several together, or allow the lowest leaves to remain on the main trunk.

Encourage a tall, thick stem for a tree-form "lollipop". In late winter, prune the top back to just above a new leaf at a 45-degree angle, and you'll soon see a new branch develop.

Over time, the tree-form plant becomes bushier with regular tip pruning. Remove the lowest leaves back to the trunk using a sharp pair of garden snips.

This marvelous plant easily becomes your focal point of a large houseplant collection. Add smaller plants in front to break up the large expanse of the pot.

Plan for the largest height and spread of a mature plant when making your placement decisions. A healthy Fiddle-Leaf Fig can live many years, growing fuller and more impressive with proper site and care.

Enjoy styling it to reflect your personal style. Pots should have large drainage holes, but can be made of different materials as you like, from high-end to "cheap and cheerful" or upcycled.

Allow the enormous leaves to soften a sunny corner, or ease the transition between room functions. Available light will play a big part of your placement decision, but you can always supplement with grow lights if needed.

Now more than ever, commercial-grade LED lighting is available to home-based growers. Boost your green thumb with effective lighting!

#ProPlantTips for Care

Native to the tropical rainforest of Western Africa, these understory plants are closely related to the smooth-leaved Rubber tree. As you can imagine, it loves very bright, indirect light and high humidity.

Recreate its native habitat on a much-smaller scale. When happy, these tropical plants become fast growing indoor plants.

Protect the violin-shaped leaves from sunburn with a spot in an east-facing window. Pull it back several feet away from the blast of full sun from a south window.

Watch for signs your plant needs a change in its planting care. These signs include brown spots of too much water or the tendency to drop leaves from air that is too dry.

Fiddle-Leaf Fig likes humidity, so mist the large leaves daily. Avoid placing it near an air vent or fireplace, if possible. You can also use a diffuser nearby, or set the pot on a "pebble tray" filled with river rock that is kept wet.

However, it won't do well with too-frequent watering. Allow the top few inches of soil to dry before dowsing it with a long drink to avoid root rot.

Prune, repot or divide multi-stemmed plants in late winter or early spring. Use an indoor plant soil mix that is light, drains quickly and is amended with great nutrients.

Don't despair if your Fiddle-Leaf Fig appears dormant during winter, as this is completely normal. Use a lighter hand with water during winter. Keep up with daily misting, however.

Fertilize your plant in early spring once you start seeing new spring growth. Use an organic formula designed for indoor use.

Fiddle-Leaf Fig is a real, live tree that you grow inside. It's a smart idea to keep a bottle of organic indoor plant systemic insecticide in your arsenal, and check your houseplants regularly for unwanted insects. Use according to label directions.

Once you find the "sweet spot" for your Fiddle-Leaf Fig, keep it there. All houseplants make adjustments to changes in light and water, but Fiddle-Leaf Fig is more a creature of habit than others. Keep conditions consistent for best results.

For a gorgeously graphic statement plant, there is nothing like a Fiddle-Leaf Fig. Add these beautiful specimens to your collection, but please hurry. We sell out of these in-demand plants quickly.
