#ProPlantTips for Care:
For the most blooms and strongest growth, plant Hydrangeas in partial shade to part sun, favoring morning sun and afternoon shade. This is especially important in the hottest of the USDA growing zones 5-9. Plant Hydrangea with moderate, and consistent moisture access and in enriched organic well-drained soil.
Bigleaf Hydrangea bloom on last year's wood, so it's best to prune if needed, and only in the early spring to remove stems that died back in the winter. You can also use renewal pruning to remove the older stems is done to keep the plants vigorous and healthy. This is because 1-3 year old branches are the best for flowering and older stems should be cut out to the ground in early spring when removing the old blooms and damaged branch tips.
- Partial Shade/Afternoon Shade
- Moderately Moist Enriched Soil
- Highly Adaptable
- Prune Bigleaf Hydrangea Early Spring
