Plant Sentry™

Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.

This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Shipping

To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.

Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

There is a very good reason Boxwood are classic landscape plants! They've graced lawns for many thousands of years, and are just as popular as ever.

Nature Hills offers a tremendous catalog of these special broad-leaved evergreens. But...sometimes you want a Boxwood that takes the look up and over the top.

Still subtle, never overpowering; but with a bigger "wow" factor. Variegated Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens 'Variegata') delivers a larger-than-life impression while asking for little in return.

Showy, irregularly variegated foliage emboldens your landscape designs. It will never look flat or one-dimensional.

Rather, creamy-white margins are splashed on every dark green leaf. The dynamic foliage is held densely from top to bottom.

Use in full sun for a brilliant display. Or, let it brighten up partially shaded areas of your landscape.

One of the time-tested principles of good garden design is to leverage evergreens for year-round structure. Wintertime is when your design gets put to the test.

Without flowers to boost the look...winter can become a bland expanse of brown and white. These plants make a stunning impact on those dreary days of wintertime.

Check the views from your windows. Where can you use Variegated Boxwood to amp up the style of your landscaping?

Imagine the visual impact Variegated Boxwood would bring as a short hedge under the bird feeders. Define your patio plantings, or repeat along your borders.

The possibilities are endless. Best of all? They are so easy to care for.

Give them a trim and tidy haircut after the first flush of growth in late spring. Or let them grow naturally as informal shrubs to allow their tiny yellow blooms to support the nectar needs of honey bees.

You'll adore the intricate coloration of these steadfast shrubs. Order Variegated Boxwood to add a sophisticated splash of color today!

How to Use Variegated Boxwood in the Landscape

Most American home landscapes are actually a bit timid. Go big and bold, and you'll never regret it.

Expand your existing planting beds to include a long, low hedge of Variegated Boxwood. Push your foundation plantings further into your front yard.

Turn over more of your ho-hum lawn to plantings. Use several shrubs in a row to create a secluded space for a private seating area.

Relax in your space!

Jazz up anything you have going on. Include Variegated Boxwood in front of mature evergreen trees. Run them along the back of the limping Butterfly Garden you put in a few years ago.

Lush foliage plants are a designer secret for a yard that looks like the pages of a magazine. Rely on their strength and depth.

Create a solid hedge by planting two feet apart on center. Stagger a second row to achieve a solid fill faster.

Mix and match with other evergreens. You could create a wonderfully restful oasis with a curated collection, from Abelia to Boxwood to Yew.

Play with form. Try Little Zebra Grass Maiden Grass or EverColor® Everlite Variegated Sedge Grass as a partner plant.

Let the gorgeous foliage of Variegated Boxwood inspire you!

#ProPlantTips for Care

We have already put all the hard work and time into creating these Topiary Cones before you receive them. Maintain their shape with a simple trimming after the first flush of new growth.

If any wayward leaves appear in the growing season, trim them up. However, you'll want to avoid trimming once the season draws to a close. You won't want to encourage growth as the cold winds come.

Variegated Boxwood will do well in either full sun or partial shade. They require at least four hours of direct sunlight a day.

We recommend Nature Hills Root Booster to provide support over the life of your shrub. The proven ingredients help plants access water and micronutrients from the soil in a symbiotic relationship.

Please plant in well-drained soil. If you need to improve drainage, plant them in a stylish raised bed. You can even plant them in extra-large outdoor containers, as long as they receive a regular schedule of water.

Boxwood prefers an even, steady amount of water on a regular basis. Wood mulch over the root system helps keep it moist and cool.

Water your evergreens well in the fall to protect against harsh winter winds. Good moisture in the leaves is important for winter care.

Prune to keep shape if necessary, but it shouldn't need much! Trim in late spring after the first flush of growth. One and done...what could be better?

These classic plants play a significant role in your garden drama. Order the comely Variegated Boxwood today at NatureHills.com.
