Plant Sentry™
Plant Sentry is designed to protect both consumers and the nursery trade from invasive plant pests and diseases. Sites that display the Plant Sentry protection badge are protected from consumers buying and nurseries shipping material carrying invasive pests and diseases.
This proprietary eCommerce software prevents the shipment of a restricted plant to each state. The Plant Sentry system includes a shipment certification program. The Plant Sentry Compliance Officer works closely with NatureHills.com and each nursery or fulfillment center to ensure only compliant plants are sold to customers.

Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Growing Zones 4-9
The dreamy and airy Deutschland Astilbe (Astilbe japonica 'Deutschland') produces brilliant, show-stopping, and feathery white flower plumes that spike up high above the center of an attractive mound of green to bronze, fern-like foliage!
Also known as False Spirea and Meadowsweet, the foamy fluffy flowers float above the equally lacy and elegant finely-cut foliage! An early to mid-summer flowering perennial, Butterflies and Hummingbirds will flock to it, and Deutschland Astilbe makes an excellent cut flower, for bringing indoors, or for drying, in natural bouquets. Imagine combining the white blooms with other loud colors!
Hardy throughout a wide range of USDA planting zones between 4 and 9, Astilbe grows into tidy, space-saving clumps of elegance 18 - 24 inches tall and can spread into lacy mounds 2 - 3 feet wide!
Landscape Application:
Deutschland lights up the partial shade and woodland understory with its foamy white brilliance! Create long rows or evenly spaced groupings of these bright flowering perennials beneath the dappled canopy where the flowers will look like spots of sunlight in the gloom.
The spread makes Deutschland a superb groundcover or plant and en mass planting when planted 12-15 inches apart on center for a solid fill of lacy ground covering elegance! Create long rows as edging in other shaded areas of your yard, along paths, or easing the transition between lawn and garden.
Need a shaded seating area or balcony specimen? Pot up Deutschland in planters as the main feature or as a prominent filler with its lacy leaves in mixed planters. These show-stoppers become the thriller in your planters and containers once those summertime blooms arrive on the scene!
Fill your mixed perennial garden, moist Rock Garden, romantic Cottage Garden, or glowing Moon Garden with these radiant pure white blooms!
- Brilliant White Plume-Like Flowers
- Lacy Fine-Cut Bronzy-Green Foliage Mounds
- Makes Great Fresh & Dried Cut Flowers
- Attracts Hummingbirds & Pollinators
- Fantastic Container Thriller & Filler
- Lush Edging, Lights Up Shade Gardens & Incredible En Masse
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Astilbe thrives in rich, cool, partially shaded, and moist locations. These herbaceous perennials are considered to be pest, disease, deer and rabbit-resistant without much care or maintenance! Mulch around the base of the plant is always a great addition, to help maintain moisture during those dryer months.
It's recommended to wait to cut the foliage back until spring, as that will help protect the plant during the winter months. It's also best to fertilize Astilbe in late spring before the flowers emerge. Divide the clumps every few years to maintain their shape and vigor!
- Partial Shade Perennial
- Well-Drained Soil That's Organically Enriched
- Consistent Moisture
- Prune Early Spring Before New Growth
- Easy To Grow & Deer, Pest, Disease & Rabbit-Resistant
Wherever you choose to plant your beautiful and elegant white Deutschland Astilbe, it will stand out in your shade garden! Order soon at NatureHills.com to enjoy the fluffy white flowers growing in your landscape!
