Delivery and Shipping
Shipping
To obtain a more accurate shipment time-frame, simply enter your zip code in the “Find Your Growing Zone” box to the right. Our plants are grown all over the country and lead time on items may be different because of this. Once your order is placed, you will also receive the specific shipment time-frame information as part of your order confirmation. Once an item ships, you will receive shipment notification and tracking numbers, so you can follow along while your plant travels to your doorstep. We use FedEx, UPS, or USPS at our discretion.
Due to winter weather we have put a hold on shipping to the areas shown below in grey. You can still order now and we will ship the plant to you during an appropriate time for your zone.

Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes

Add this A-List choice for the home garden! Place the Alpenglow Perennial Geranium (Geranium sanguineum 'Alpenglow') wherever you'll be able to appreciate this little garden superstar! Fine-textured and lacy greenery and bright blooms, Hardy Geraniums are long-lived and long-flowering ornamental perennial favorites!
Sweet, cup-shaped, lavender-pink flowers are held above the mounded bunches of lobed and deeply cut leaves. After the pollinators have had their fill and the first round of flowers fade, often a second flush returns sporadically to the show! Then, it's time for the third act, as Alpenglow's finely cut foliage turns an eye-catching red in the autumn! It just brings the house down!
Alpenglow is no diva! Hardy throughout USDA planting zones 4 to 8, Rabbits and Deer don't care for the taste, but the flowers will definitely attract butterflies to your yard! Sweet and petite in size, the nearly 18-inch height and around 24-inch spread won't detract from just how showy those pink flowers are!
Landscape Application:
Also known by its common name of Cranesbill, you'll want to stage your Alpenglow as a front of the garden border accent, as trailing edging, weed-blocking groundcover, as a "Filler" throughout the landscape, or massed around the sun landscape! A must-have for the Rock garden, lacy finery for Cottage, and mixed perennial gardens! Large settings, informal spaces, courtyards, and Container gardens!
The possibilities are nearly endless!
Because the foliage is so finely textured, it contrasts beautifully when paired with longer, strappy-leaved selections, like Daylilies or Iris! Try it partnered with larger Hosta leaves in partial shade settings, or with smaller Ornamental Grass in sunny locations. But don't consider this just a "supporting actor" - it shares the limelight with its companions and for good reason!
Slopes and eroding hillsides become brilliant pink spectacles while saving you the hassle of trying to mow these dangerous areas. Plus Alpenglow will slow rainwater and fill in large areas of ground as a flowering, ornamental landscape filler. Forming dense mats that choke out weeds, prevent moisture evaporation like mulch, and bring in the butterflies to those barren spaces between larger shrubs, trees, or perennials!
- Purplish-Magenta With Darker Veins
- Fine-Textured Deeply Incised Green Foliage
- Compact, Trailing & Mat-Forming Growth Habit
- Blooms for Months
- Pollinators Galore!
- Hardy Edging, Borders, Container Filler & Spillers, Mass Plantings & More!
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Hardy Geranium are easy to grow and low-maintenance! Just be sure to site them in well-drained soil in either full sun or partial shade, preferring more shade in hotter climates and more sun in cooler zones. Provide moderate regular moisture to new plants, but once established, Cranesbill are very drought tolerant and adaptable perennials!
It is recommended you divide large clumps in spring every 3-5 years, to maintain the best growth and health of the plants. Deadhead after the first wave of blooms and you'll enjoy a second flush. Then in autumn in cooler climates, or early spring in warm growing zones, prune back the entire plant and remove debris before new growth begins. Top with some compost and you are ready for a new growing season of beauty!
- Long-Lived In Full Sun & Well-Drained Soil
- Moderate Moisture Needs - Drought-Tolerant Once Established
- Deadhead/Shear After First Blooms Fade For Later Rebloom
- Prune Back Foliage Late Autumn or Early Spring
- Deer & Rabbit-Resistant
