#ProPlantTips for Care:
The Immortality Tall Bearded Iris performs best in full sun or partial shade, in well-drained soil with medium or low moisture. They do best when planted several weeks before the first frost on a mound of soil for drainage and water it in well. With moderate to low moisture needs, but after it's established, this Iris variety is quite drought tolerant and deer and rabbit tolerant. Add a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to conserve moisture. As the years pass, you will want to divide them and transplant the new rhizomes every 2-5 years depending on how closely they're planted together.
Immortality produces white flowers in late spring on rigid stems and reblooms again later. An application of fertilizer in the summer aids their rebloom. Popular and dependable, it is an easily grown Iris, it spreads by rhizomes, so if planted this year, it will be even bigger and better in a season or two!
Information About Bare Root Iris
Bare root Iris are shipped as nice fresh-cut divisions with two to three fans of green tops. Keep in mind each Iris variety can have slightly different-sized roots. Container plants are well-grown in the nursery for several years in their container to establish a strong root system.
When planting Iris, which are best planted in early to mid-fall, ensure 1/3rd of the rhizome is exposed to sunlight with the roots buried underneath. Note, that it's best to cover the rhizome with a thin layer of mulch or leaves to protect it during the coldest months but make sure to uncover them in the spring.
