Understanding Plant Options
Nature Hills offers plants in two main formats:
- Container Plants: Grown in pots with soil, sized by container volume and plant age
- Bare Root Plants: Dormant plants without soil, sized by height measurements
Container Plant Sizes
Container sizes indicate plant age and growing capacity rather than liquid volume equivalents. Our containers follow industry-standard nursery "trade gallon" specifications, which differ from standard liquid gallon measurements.

Important Notes
Container Volume Specifications
- Trade Gallon Standard: Our containers follow industry-standard "trade gallon" specifications established by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI Z60.1) for nursery stock
- Volume Variations: Actual soil volume may vary due to plant root systems and growing medium settlement
- Age Indicators: Container size primarily indicates plant age and maturity rather than liquid volume equivalents
Growing Conditions
- Plant size can vary based on variety and growing conditions
- Container size helps indicate plant maturity and establishment level
- Larger containers generally mean more established root systems and faster landscape establishment
Seasonal Availability
- Bare root plants are available seasonally when dormant
- Container plants are available throughout the growing season
- Specific varieties may have limited availability in certain sizes

Growing Zones 5-9
The Seascape Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa 'Seascape') was masterfully developed by the University of California in the 1990s. This Everbearing variety will give you a large crop each year, and you will even get a small crop of delicious, juicy berries during its first summer!
High-quality, very sweet berries, your Seascape Strawberry will give you a reliably large crop of bright red, rounded cone-shaped berries throughout the summer. They are juicy and full of classic Strawberry flavor!
The large, firm fruit is perfect for just about everything - eaten fresh, baked in pies, turned into jam, or blended into shakes and smoothies! And don't forget that you can freeze or can them so you will have some to enjoy later or make refreshing fruit water.
Fruiting begins in late spring and has been known to fruit all summer! It produces few runners, but not so many that you will have to worry about policing them constantly like some varieties. And when it comes to the fruit, you will get a massive crop each year from this Everbearing variety, so you will have fruit whenever you desire.
The Seascape Strawberry is a hardy variety that will grow well in beds, rows, borders, and in containers. In fact, you can use your Strawberry plants in the landscape as more than just a vegetable garden resident and can be a fantastic groundcover and lawn alternative, providing erosion control on slopes and hillsides, and as edging along your paths and garden beds!
- Deliciously Sweet, Large Berries
- Produces Berries The First Summer!
- High Yield Everbearing Variety
- Gorgeous Green Foliage & Few Runners
- Stunning, Edible Groundcover & Versatile Landscaping Usage
#ProPlantTips for Care:
Seascape grows and fruits well in hot, dry climates. The gorgeous foliage can even remain semi-evergreen in warmer climates of USDA planting zones 5 to 9.
As you get ready to plant your Strawberries or their rooted runners, find a spot where they will get full sun and the soil is rich and well-drained. It prefers to send its roots into sand or loam, but make sure it has plenty of nutrients. Give your Strawberries a good drink of water each week, and maybe a little more when it is hot or dry. Spread mulch over the plants in late fall to buffer the severe cold and temperature fluctuations.
Seascape produces fewer runners than other varieties. These Everbearing berries have an impressive broad resistance to fungal diseases!
- Full Sun Perennials
- Well-Drained Enriched Soil
- Moderate Regular Moisture
- Clean Mounds In Early Spring
- Resists Coastal Sites, Heat & Disease
There's no time to waste, order your Seascape Everbearing Strawberry plants today, because the sooner that you get them in the ground, the sooner you will be filling your mouth with Strawberry goodness. Nature Hills will hold your quality bulbs and container plants safely until the proper planting time for your growing zone!
