Description
Vibrant, coppery-orange the Sweet Tea Foamy Bells (xHeucherella 'Sweet Tea') adds a splash of color to your garden with its bold, apricot orange, mounding leaves which measure 4 inches across! Closely related to Coral Bells and Foam Flowers, these hybrid perennials keep the best of both worlds!
They are beloved because they are so easy to grow and their large, colorful leaves are far longer lasting than any blooms. Small, white bell-shaped flowers, similar to those of their Coral Bells parentage, appear on slender matching coppery-red stems in late spring, much to the delight of your spring bouquets and the many bees and butterflies that will seek them out.
The vibrant, coppery orange color will darken somewhat in the summer, with a splash down the central veins that are darker red. The color will lighten up again in the fall but Sweet Tea Heucherella keeps their intense nearly-cinnamon coloration throughout the heat of summer and sometimes through the winter in mild climates.
Foamy Bells attract pollinators, butterflies and Hummingbirds, and are deer resistant as well. Growing in heat, cold and humidity of USDA plant hardiness zones 4 to 9, these tough perennials reach 20-27 inches in height when in bloom and creep and spread into clumps about 28 inches wide.
Planting and Application:
What a great new color palate to add to your shade garden! The Sweet Tea Foamy Bells are ideal selections for regions of the country with hot, steamy summers! You can plant them in groups and in long rows to maximize their unique coloration! Enlivening other orange, red, and sunset-hued plants as filler and accents that won't mind the shade from larger trees or shrubs!
Ideally sized for use in Containers, and planters, easily acting as filler and eye-catching color in a decorative pot on a shaded porch or patio! Highly adaptable, these perennials happily ramble throughout Rock gardens, Cottage borders, or open woodland gardens as long as they have ample protection from the hot summer sun.
These Heucherella are a mainstay of vibrant shade borders and along pathways as colorful edging. Live life out loud with their bold and unexpected color as facer plants along a weary foundation row of evergreens! Even remaining ever'green' themselves in mild winter climates.

#ProPlantTips for Care:
Shining brightly in both partial and full shade, Foamy Bells retain their color and bloom for many weeks! Handling humidity and heat, as well as cold winters, these Perennial plants are low maintenance and widely adaptable to different soil types, just be sure they won't ever dry out. A good 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch at the base of your plants, to help retain moisture, especially in areas exposed to direct sunlight.
Prune in the very early spring to clear away old foliage and freshen up the mounds. You can deadhead the flowers as soon as they fade or snip the blossoms for indoor bouquets if you'd prefer to keep Sweet Tea primarily as a foliage plant exclusively! Deer, pests, and diseases even seem to skip over these hardy little wonders!
