  • Sunlight: This strawberry requires at least 8 hours of direct sun to produce the high sugar content and large berry size Eclair is known for. While partial shade is tolerated, you will see a significant drop in fruit production and a much tarter flavor profile.
  • Soil: These plants thrive in rich, loamy soil that drains quickly to prevent crown rot. If you are dealing with heavy clay, mix in organic compost or plant in raised beds to ensure the roots never sit in stagnant water.

Watering Requirements

Maintain consistently moist soil similar to a wrung-out sponge during the first year and whenever fruit is developing. Mature plants have some drought tolerance but inconsistent watering results in small, shriveled berries and stressed foliage.
