How to Use White Pillar® Rose of Sharon in the Landscape
Place one near the side of your front door as a durable accent. Those lean, tall good looks will be a terrific feature all year-long.
Try a pair on either side of your garden gate. Every time you pass between them, you'll revel in a grand sense of entrance.
Take this concept and expand on it. Add a double row in a showy allée along the length of your side yard. Why not make a feature out of a boring, ho-hum area?
Spacing these plants is just as versatile as everything else about these cool plants. For a solid screen, measure 18 inches from the center of one plant to the center of the next.
For an allée, increase the spacing between plants to four or five feet. Allow 12 to 15 feet between the rows.

Give them at least four hours of sunshine a day. More sun means more flowers!
Apply a medium amount of water on a regular basis for the best results. Add a three-inch layer of mulch to cover the root system.
New plants need careful attention to water. Once your plants are established, they'll handle a bit of drought. Container-grown plants will always need a medium amount of supplemental water.
White Pillar blooms on new wood, so prune it in early spring. You can shape the sides and tip prune to control the height at that time.
Deer don't prefer the taste, but they are hungry little buggers. If there are deer in your area, apply deer repellent on planting day. Follow reapplication instructions on the label.

The replacement White Pillar Rose of Sharon is doing great. Regarding the previous 7 plants, they also look great. Execpt one, it did not get the correct color gene (its magenta pink) I'm not happy about it, but it is a healthy plant. Someone in your nursery is color blind. I hope that is the only surprise, I wanted all Pillar plants, no bushes, that will require more time.

Rose of Sharon is such a reliable bloomer once it settles in, and the blue-violet flowers on this one are hard to beat for late-summer color. Arrived healthy and on time. Put in large pot and placed on patio. It is growing with height and new leaves and color is good. No blooms yet but think I see some coming out. Looking forward to them.

My Rose of Sharon came up later than all my other plants and I found out that is normal. It is a late emerger compared to a lot of other plants. I wish I would have read the information on this site rather than worrying.
