Fiery carpets of Waterwise brilliance, the Fire Spinner® Ice Plant (Delosperma x 'P001S') creates a fast-growing mat of fleshy, evergreen to semi-evergreen foliage reminiscent of succulents! While noteworthy for the foliage alone, when spring arrives - you won't believe your eyes!

Like the flat, toy spinners, the bright tri-color Daisy-like blooms look like they could start twirling at any second! The 1 ½-inch blossoms have pollen-laden white centers with varying shades of fuchsia blending out to fiery-orange tips. The effect is almost neon in the sun, especially when they cover the foliage like a thick floral carpet in your yard.

Fire Spinner® will bloom every spring and last into summer. The foliage is evergreen, enhancing your winter landscape's darker colors. Butterflies love them but the deer and rabbits tend to leave them alone!

#ProPlantTips for Care:

Ice Plants need a very fast-draining location with plenty of sun to flower their best. Preferring sandy, rocky, and gravel soil conditions. Water as needed during the first year in the ground to establish a deep, healthy root system using the Finger Test, allowing them to dry out some between waterings. Afterward, Delosperma are very low-water usage plants. But for the best flowering display, provide some summer watering during prolonged drought and excessive heat. Back off watering in early autumn so they can go into fall a bit drier, that way they can harden off before winter.

All plants appreciate a 3-4 inch deep layer of mulch to hold moisture underground and insulate the roots. Mulch also helps keep soil from splashing on and covering the low-growing foliage, for a neater, cleaner look. It is recommended you cover these succulent perennials with row covers or frost blankets if you live in an area that has heavy snowfall in the winter.

In spring, prune out any branching that has died back and fertilize in the spring and early summer to keep the flowers popping and help keep the leaves plump!

Easiest to plant: xerophile, needing no fertilizer, easy to divide!

Wonderful plant! Water only when planting, once a week. After 2nd or 3rd week, it shows you that it is a xerophile plant (needing no water to thrive). Fertilize at your peril as fertilizing it encourages only leaves to grow, NO flowers..When it gets too big, dig it up, and with shovel, divide it into plugs, and plant those plugs 2-3 ft apart, and you would never have to buy another Walkers Low Nepeta again!

Plants arrived in good order and well packed. Live in an area where Pine Straw is used as a ground cover in beds and new pine straw is added from the many pine trees. After planting the Spinner Ice Plants were not growing as well as expected. Took away all the pine straw where plants were planted and they began to grow as expected. They seem to need the contact with the soil as they grow. The plants have not flowered but seem to love the sun and sandy soil should help keep the roots from being overly moist. Will love to see how they look in bloom.
